APS TMIC install
Man, I thought this would be easy. Big mistake. First took forever to get this thing crammed in there and get the bov, turbo and TB hose to line up. This thing being heavy as hell didn't help the cause either. Then I tried to salvage my whiteline strut bar and thought I was successful, but when I started the car it started shaking because the strut bar was touching the IC which was on the motor. Then I was so happy I was done I didn't realize the IC was laying on the turbo top coolant hose. Test drive went saw, saw, psshhhh. Luckily I didn't leave the neighborhood and coasted it on home. Tomorrow I have to figure out how I can route the new coolant hose. Got any ideas. Oh and I managed to fit the APS splitter to my CF hood with a regular size scoop no problem. Just had to vent--I'm pouring a drink and going to bed
PS I bought the IC and splitter from bikerboy a highly recommended seller. Although my back and knuckles are cursing him now.

dunno if you have the newer version, but i do and it is a REAL pain to install.
It makes it MUCH easier to have one person on each side due the the ICs weight. Some tips i've come up with: - Wrap the metal AC hose with some rubber heater hose. When it's pressed up against the firewall it rattles like mad. - Wrap the lower portion of the AC hose with heater hose where it contacts the back-side of the IC. - Dunno how yours fits. But i bent the hell out of my wastegate nipple with the IC. Take off the passenger side bracket and put two 10mm washers under each bolt. This raises it enough to clear the wastegate. if the IC touches the wastegate hose it will eventually rub through and you will get boost spikes. - By far the best tip, REMOVE the driver side bracket and leave it off till you get the IC in. Once the IC is in place and all the hoses are attached you can shimmy the bracket in there. that's all i can think of.... |

i had the same problem with mine... just make sure nothing is touching or rubbing it. and leave the drivers side bracket off until the end. oh ya and get an extra hand... did anyone else have problems with the intercooler rubbing a hole in the ac line. cause my ac doesn't work anymore.

the sti ac line will work...i almost did it. But heater hose wrapped around it seems to have prevented a hole from being rubbed into the pipes...and i've had the IC for about 3-4 months now.
