Default Rotor appears to have scoring with new pads and rotor

Roughly 2,000 miles ago I brought my '04 STi in because I heard aggressive grinding and the smell of hot brakes. I was informed that my front pads had basically disintegrated and I needed to replace the pads and the rotors. I only had about 24k on the car and I dont drive it hard. They told me that there was a known defect in some Subaru pads that caused them to do this. So everything was replaced for free under warranty. Over the past couple of months I noticed my brakes were squeeking more than they ever did moving forward and backward. I suspect that the tech didn't replace the shims. What I decided to do was to buy new pads. I chose the Hawk Performance Ceramic pads. When inspecting one of the rotors I noticed a single score that went around one of the rotors. It doesnt seem to be very deep, but I can notice it when looking at the rotor surface. My question is - Is this normal or do I need to have it inspected by a tech?

Thanks

doesnt matter, now that you've put on aftermarket pads, your warranty on your brakes/rotors will be void....

It would be easy enough to put OE pads on before taking it to the dealer......

Scoring around the rotor is normal, depending on how deep it is. If it gets bad, you either need to resurface your rotors or replace them. Don't do that without replacing your pads, though, or the pad will carve the same pattern in to the new rotors.
