Need to bounce thoughts for a bucket seat...
I have a 2015 WRX.
I've autocrossed it a few times, and decide the seat is a weak point in the car. I ordered up a seat, sliders, and side mounts. Today I went to install them, and I realize I have a buckle recieve issue. The plan was to run the bottom b pillar mount through the left side belt hole. Then run the belt buckle through the rise side hole to the buckle reciever. Unfortunately the reciever is mounted to a rather long piece of metal and is too tall. I already brought the reciever to a welding shop to cut it by 3.5 inches and weld it together. However, my mind just feels this is an in-elegant solution. I really want to remove the metal extension, and replace it with a cloth strap. Or use a rear buckle reciever. The issues are 1. There is a sensor on the front buckle reciever and not the rear. 2. Can you take a strap from a rear reciever and swap it into the front reciever? A completely different idea was to run an eyebolt on the rear right corner, then bolt the buckle reciever to it. The issue is that the eyebolt and actual reciever mounting on the seat bracket are almost two inches apart on different planes. Safe? Or are there any other ideas altogether? Thanks in advance.

Issue 3 is whether or not all of these mods will pass tech for the organization that's sanctioning the autocrosses. Using a 3-point belt system with a seat designed for 5 or 6-point belts really isn't a very good idea. Besides the routing problems, there's also the issue of whether or not the belt angles that this change produces meet (in the case of SCCA) the General Competition Rules.
Before I went any further, I'd contact the local club or region and ask to be put in touch with the nearest scrutineer. He/she can evaluate the problem and give you answers and suggestions based on the actual rules. BTW, just for your information, if you're not currently competing in a class that allows modifications, you almost certainly will be after making these changes. |

If you want to run an aftermarket seat in Street Touring, please write a letter to the SEB and nicely suggest that their take back proposal can be shoved up their ass.

I'm in STS with a fixed back seat and no one has said anything about it. wear the stock seat for city and highway. use a g-lock to keep the belt tight. for autocross you can use a schroth rally 4 harness. about cutting the sensor shorter not sure if that would be safe, or pass tech.
