IS anyone using the Brazil ROM for a starting point for tuning to E85 or is everyone just tuning the USDM ROM?

Thanks
Please forgive me if my questions seem stupid, Im trying to learn before taking the plunge and copulating something up.

just tuning the USDM roms.....

Are you saying the brazilian STi is tuned for e85 (or E100) from the factory?

The starting point to go from pump tp e85 is to go in and multiply your fuel injector by 0.7 (70%)......this will add 30% more fuel. Then you basically need to rescale the MAF to keep your fuel corrections in check and keep WOT fueling hitting target.

No guys,

Ive been tuning a few Brazilian STi's. While different, the ROM is geared toward a 96 octane, as it is available there at the pump. They also have e100!! That stuff is like c16 for pennies on the dollar.

1000's are pretty close to maxed on the stock turbo on this go-go juice.

It seems as though my post was ignored, so I'll mention it again. Why not request the type of dyno these numbers were derived from? I don't think you can argue the fact that adding the type of dyno would definitely add definition and integrity to your list.

I'm willing to help because I know if would be a bit more work for you. If you are willing, we can split up the work. I'll send PM's to the last 20 people on your list to provide the type of dyno and you can do the first 20. As soon as I get responses from them, I'll send them to you and you can update the list accordingly.

Thoughts?

what i can say is... IM FROM BRAZIL...

mikey did my car..
our car here doesnt receive any kind of adaptation for the fuel..

i think we get exaclty the same car of australia.
92 octane here makes my car bad not smooth... it feels the bad gas...

BTW our E100 is ridiculous GOOD!!

and our STI receives a better ratio than USDM lolol i can do here 193km/h with 6700rpm in 4th!!!!

mikey really knows!!!!

I am guessing it won't come up until aprilish, thats why I am getting a drum of ignite 108 which is a mix of 90% ethanol with a biofuel to mix with the e85 around me to keep it consistantly 85-88%.

thats a pretty good idea for the time being...next year i am filling my 2 55 drums of e85 and that will last all winter

i ended up testing my 3 month old e85 and it came out to 83%, so i think as long as it is air tight i will have no problems keeping it good all winter

with the price of gas shooting up im gonna get 2 drums myself so i can have them in the garage. that way i wont run out and have to go out of the way to get it to fill the cars, and also store some during the winter.

Is it illegal to haul 2 55 gallon drums of fuel around without some sort of permit/license? Not that is matters ...

anyone know when its safe to switch back to my e85 tune (I've between using the 93 tune for the winter so far)? I was originally tuned in june with the high quality E so if anything, it might just run slightly rich right?

according to the handling guide, it is legal to haul it without a permit until you get over a ridiculous amount, however, i am sure that the DOT would say something about it if they are just blank barrels. They are supposed to be labeled and everything I think in order for them to be legal containers.

If your tuner was worth a damn they wouldn't have tuned you so far to one extreme with E85 that you couldn't use it all year round, unless they specifically told you that. Run the rank as low as you feel comfortable, then switch to E85.

^ Scotty, take it doown a notch ...he is just asking a question. To answer his question, generally, it is preferable to get tuned on summer blend and that way when the winter blends start to show up you will just run a little richer than originally tuned for. it should be perfectly fine to run it year round though if you wanted to. so yeah...you can switch back now if you wanted, and you may just end up a little on the rich side.

Good to know. I got tuned on summer E here in chicago and I know that the quality of the winterE isn't as good. I figure I might just fun a bit rich. If I get some logs, could anyone here take a look at them for me?

i think best is to have a summer and winter blend tune. if ur tune is aggressive on the summer blend when the winter stuff comes out ur gonna be risking it.

an aggressive e85 tune would be around 12.3:1 a/f, and in the winter you would just get safer if anything...ideal obviously would be 2 tunes, but what exactly would he be risking. now going from winter blend aggressive tune to summer blend would be more risky...

^^^he's right the lower e85(which is more like e73) is just going to richen it up a half point and honestly if it were me I would not be running full boost in the winter anyways, not that I even drive it in the winter.lol
