6Gun Racing Ball Joint Extension Kit
Well, I know that there's another write-up on the same part (which is an excellent write-up, I might add) but I think I should give my two cents in since this is a pretty new product and I know alot of people are very curious about how people have been doing with the product.
Car: 06 WRX Wagon Wheel Size: 18's Drop: 2 finger clearance front and back (Sorry if I'm not as technical as most of ya NASIOC smarty's) Product: Very solid pieces. I was not dissapointed at all by the quality of the pieces. They felt very solid in my hand and I didn't feel as though there would be any safety issues with the pieces breaking down after long usage. Install: First off, I'm not exactly the most patient at installing parts on my car and I always seem to make the easiest things into a root canal, so I took it over to Darren at West End for installation. But I can tell you this much, he installed both sides in about 25 minutes. And to top it all off he was able to install the entire kit without taking off my wheels. (Because I'm dumb and I forgot my wheel lock key at home ) Anyway, it just goes to show that for all you suspension savy guys out there. Right tools + Knowledge = EASY! He actually even did another alignment on my car. My alignment was off already, but Darren did say that adding the kit would probably of thrown off my alignment, so it's something you might want to consider after installing the kit. Driving: Here's the fun part. I might not be able to throw out any stats on camber or things likes that but I can definitely tell ya that there was a noticable different in handling. I took my car through my regular "twisty" route and it was awesome. I definitely felt alot more ready for the turns as I went through them and I was able to come out of the turns and open up alot faster. Conclusion: I would fully recommend the kit to anyone who has been thinking about purchasing it. In the future it will probably be part of any full suspension.

25 minutes for install!
Wow, this might be worth taking it somewhere to be done. Thanks for the review, I am considering these for my '06 Wagon as well. Would you happen to know what camber you are running? And, what other suspension mods do you have, and how would you rate this one compared to those? |

I am very interested in this part, so thanks for posting. The best description I have heard for this part, is that it lessens the car's tendency to "give up" in a turn. (Meaning- I assume- how the car tends to lose grip when it is near its limits.)
Do you agree with this assessment? (That the car does not "give up" as you load it in a turn.) Thanks, Jeff |

It all has to do with camber control. When you lower an Impreza, bad things happen to the front suspension geometry, which in turn reduces tire contact with the road when cornering. This kit makes it right again, and as you have stated, it makes a difference!

Thanks for the additional info, I've been reading all the other write ups and this is a great write up that puts alot of things that I've learned into easier terms for not just myself but other readers who have been asking questions about it. I understood the other write-ups, it's just I couldn't put down on paper what you have already achieved. |
