Glad you've got a non burner..touch wood. Trouble is I have to drive to Saskatchewan for two weeks on Sunday. I'm going to be pissing a few people off by varying my speed all day long. Good thing...when I get back it'll be broken in.

Sorry pegleg, not exactly sure of your meaning. I believe you're saying that a 2010 is the same as the 2009 and that the same problem may exist??? If so, it seems the affected build dates were 07/08 and 08/08. My question is whether or not a more recent build date is generally considered to be ok.

2010 IS NOT EQUAL TO 2009

or if you use SQL (or other coding):

2010 != 2009
2010 <> 2009

Stating it in a more obvious way, your car is not affected so don't worry about it.

Thank you. I'm afraid the obvious way is best for me.

Yeah. Not trying to be a dick or anything, but so many people comment and ask questions if certain build dates are affected and whatnot, instead of just reading a few posts to find out what happened.

Hah. I'm not even going to have warranty confirmation until Monday; and then the engine install + ship time on top of that.

Yikes, none of these engine failures had any mods? Thats a lot of stock WRX's out there. My build date is 09-08, how can one find out if they were built in the early part of the month or the later?

Vin ends 506XX

Sorry to hear about that. Subaru of Gwinett did a great job as far as customer service. Sent them some receipts of my oil purhases and they filed some stuff with SOA and i was good win a new longblock. One that was received. They ran some turbo test, but then i needed a new turbo. Got that, then they ran the car for about 100 miles and then got my car back.

I hope u get urs squared away. It always sucks to be wihoout ur car.

Mine was stock motor, only suspension mods. Btw, i think ur car is outside the affected build date range.

Check your vin number and compare to the list, see if it's lower then the the highest vin# on there. Should give you a good idea.

.
I owned a Tacoma. Thats how I found myself in my 09WRX. Toyota had a somewhat sizable issue with their frames rotting out on the Tacomas in snowy states. They were quietly (before all the brake/accel issues) paying off people who had frame rot, buying their trucks back. If there was any perforation found on the frame they would offer 150% of KBB value in best condition. I had a check for $9800 to me for a 97' taco with almost 200,000 miles! I put that down on my WRX.

Newer Tacos has frame rot issues as well, do some research. Not a day goes by where I don't miss my Taco but Toyota needs to figure some things out before I go back to them. Until then I'll just worry about replacing engines, not frames Lol.

You should be fine. I'm a 5055xx with a Sept. 13th build date. I asked when I bought the car a year and a half ago as I knew there were problems. I should be fine as well but you never know. 16k and climbing . . .

I know that we've determined this issue was resolved for MY2010, I was just curious if there's anyone out there with a 2010 WRX that's been a victim such as those in this thread?

Mine is 505XXX. Yours is less than a hundred cars later than mine.
14,000miles running strong.

I hope we got lucky with the cut-off.

I think he may have left an 'X' off of there, which would put him around 1000 cars after you and is well after the highest number reported failure on this website.

Sorry for being a bit of a dyslexic but, would this VIN be safe (last 6)?

824xxx

This is an '09 STI.
Thanks!

This does not apply to STIs, only July and august 08 WRXs.

That's way past the range and this particular issue only affected WRX's that I'm aware of.
