Post Anyone drag race

I was just wondering if anyone drag races there impreza and what are your 1/4 mile times. Also what mods do you have to get you to those times. I just want to know what to do to get the times I want.

Hopefully I have gotten to you before the slings and arrows that will be surely headed your way...

Drag racing and the Impreza go together like fine white wine and a steak sandwich.
Like General Custer and Native Americans. Like sand and vaseline. Like Nathan Lane and "Little Kim". Like water and sodium. Like the Hells Angels and the Vienna Boy's Chior. Like Mustangs and decreasing radius curves.

Some things you should think twice about before mixing.

Unless of course you have a Turbo and Boost.

Those go well together in drag racing.

I've done it a few times....
I went 15.7 @ 84mph on a cold head windy day w/cold air intake and underdrive pulley
Hopefully the sunday after thanksgiving I'll go to Long Island and do it again...
this time w/ rallispec exhaust and JC's torque chip
Tips ower shift and at least 4k pops off the line will get you 2.0's 60 foot times.

I've raced my 00'RS sedan. Bone stock with a full tank of gas I ran 15.85 @ 84mph. With a MAGNAFLOW stainless performance muffler, open air intake with functional hood scoop, and Denso Iridium spark plugs I ran a best of 15.51 @ 86.43mph. Lots of fun, of course road racing is so much more fun. But I plan on dragging it at least a little more.
Have fun and keep smilin. Cya, subystyle

bruno, are you that guy with the 555 jacket? you were talking with my friend that had the yellow 240SX..

just keep practicing and learn from other people that has the same setup as you on which rpm to launch, power shifting, etc... and also, dont forget to set a goal (ie. 13s in the 1/4 mile). that really keeps you motivated.

good luck!

Yeah, but all hondas do is drag race. Where is the skill in that? Just need one set of quick reflexes and it is something that can be mastered in probably 3 months of hard racing. I never see honda's aside from CRX's running the tracks at autocross. If I wanted to drag race I would buy a Chevy Nova. What is the fun of driving in a straight line. It is like a lay up contest in basketball!

Hell yeah Chevy Nova. Friend of mine in south GA had one that made 1100 hp with nitrous. The rear tires were about 2 feet wide.

MAX_Scooby,

Try bracket racing. I LOVE bracket racing. Subarus are one of the best cars to do this in my opinion, especially if you are driving an automatic. I enjoy autoxing also but not more than bracket drag racing.

Bracket racing is by no means easy. It's fun too some people (Like me) and you can win big $$ doing it. I haven't competed at the national events yet. I'll really get into it next year though. I've only been in 2 events this year (All within the last 2 months). 1st event I won $100 (Runner up in IDRC..cheap bastards) and got a big trophy. 2nd event I lost in the 3rd round (broke out..went to fast). Last event I made it to the 1/4 finals. No $$ but I got a trophy.

All you have to do is be consistent. That's it. It's that simple but that can be difficult. Learn more about it and have some fun. Don't let people here tell you what your car is made for. It was made to be a competent AWD economy car from the factory.

My winnings from last year was the ONLY way I was able to afford my turbokit in the first place. I had to win $$ for parts from bracket racing. It's no harder on your car than flooring it from a stoplight. You can keep your car stock if you want. My car was in the 17's in the 1/4 and people were switching lanes to avoid racing me in the brackets. You can imagine how that made me feel.

Last year (May 2nd, Englishtown), alot of us watched Shane Bartholemew (sp?) do his 13.2 runs in his Minnam turbokit. It was the first time a group of us witness a Minnam turbo at the strip (that I recall) and it was awesome. I was in the 17's then but I remember wanting a kit so bad. Later that day, I won in my bracket class and got $400.00 cash, 2 trophies (Class winner and 1st round winner), and a black NIRA jacket with leather sleeves. I could've won more if I had contigency stickers on my car but I didn't have any aftermarket products from popular companies then. I was hooked after this. And this was my 2nd time bracket racing. I only did this for one month but it was all the $$ I need to get the turbokit. I was about $500 short.(http://www.geocities.com/infonympho/dragstrip.html)

Have fun and don't let these people discourage you from doing what you want to do. Take Care!

That's very impressive, Kevin. I didn't know you could win that much money in just one month of bracket racing.
