I don't know much about Canon lenses but I enjoy my 35mm prime (most used) but since my camera is not full frame it is equivalent to a 50mm prime.

Also I mostly shoot in morning/late afternoon/sunset, at this time I mainly use Aperture Priority.
I really need to get Lightroom. I've only been using Photoshop for years, but never got around to trying Lightroom. It seems like most people use that who end up taking awesome pictures.

Unless you're made of money I would just practice up with the kit lens. I have found it is the most crisp right at 35mm. I tend to shoot in aperture priority or shutter priority, depending on what my goal is. I don't usually shoot full manual unless it's a night shoot. Never use any of the presets. I mean you can, but the camera's software is making a lot of decisions for you at that point.

Good luck and have fun!
Thanks, and I'll definitely read through that.

Get yourself one of these (or used) and practice with it. It might make your life easier. The car needs to be moving at a decent clip as well. 1/30 is where you want to be if you can. And yes add a monopod + that lens and you should have some nice results.

No I don't. I switch my 70-200 over to stabilizer mode 2 which is meant for panning. It does help but it won't beat good technique. I've only done panning a few times and I've improved every time.

I was just given the 55x300, but it has no IS. But it WAS free. Maybe I'll sell it and put that towards an IS zoom lens.

Any recommendations for a dslr camera for a beginner? Nothing super pricey, but also nothing too noobish. I'd like to start somewhere that would take nice pictures with minimal editing. Just gonna focus using the tripod and different angles for now, thanks!

My bad guys, price range of around or less than $500?? Maybe in the 4's? Im by any means no pro at photography or have enough knowledge to dictate which camera is pricing is good based upon model. In Armin's photography thread he even demonstrates how it's all about the angle and position of the camera. Taking a picture with his phone he made it look awesome. So again something just beginner for now but still kicks ass with quality and price. I will look up the previous models you guys mentioned, I appreciate the help! And brands to lean towards or stay away from incase I come across some good deals?
