Launching?
So I just got my 2011 WRX hatch a couple months ago, got the accessport (duh) and it’s currently running Cobb’s OTS stage 1+sf intake HWG. All it had is catbacks the sf intake and a short throw. When and if I want to launch it what are the optimal rpms that won’t shatter my glass trans? But won’t have me gimping off the line until I hit boost?

Somewhere between 3k and 4K is probably your best bet. Of course, launching is always gonna be putting strain on your drivetrain.

I know some people who rock 5k. I know some who do 3500. But most of the smart ones I know, don't launch unless absolutely necessary. Me personally I have mine set at 4200, but I think I may launch 2-3 times a year when I did need to. And its been a very long time since I have.

Does he hold the pedal to the ground or just enough to make the rpms bounce of the limiter? Because last night I launched in the rain with the pedal to the ground and burnt my clutch a bit but when I did it just light enough to make them bounce I had no problem? |

I guess I don’t know the proper way to launch efficiently enough to get gone and not burn the clutch lol |

Dump that bitch at 5k plus.. let the clutch out on the upswing. Or if you have a cobb set the launch control to 5 or 55.
The goal is launch it with enough revs to break the tires loose.. sounds crazy but much less stress on axles/transmission/clutch if u get the wheels to spin instead of bog. That way the shock transfers to the wheels instead of your cv/transmission |
