the entire car is a complete joke as they market it with FWD and a CVT.
Just give up Nissan and call the barge. |

I used to love the Maxima, almost purchased a 2003 6spd manual with LSD. I am shocked people still buy these especially giiven how much of an ugly boat this has become. Would rather put that kind of money towards an A3 or 328i.

Whenever I see Maxima in a thread I think of this and to me its much more desirable than the car. (they have $10k+ incentives, the car not the clams)

Scrap, the Maxima has proven to be decent with FWD. The original FDSC was quite capable in its day. The CVT needs to go though. Replace it with a manual or a DCT.
AVANTI. Good luck. |

NO arguments from me. I have fond memories of quick 4DSC with a manual. THey were quite good looking as well.

Ah yes, the Nissan Wedding Cake. Every time I think I see one of these on the street if turns out to be an Altima. I know they were trying to be edgy with the design of this car, but the whole stacked shapes and curves thing looks awful, and that a opinion applies to all of their sedan offerings.

The Altima grew too much making the maxima have to grow to proportions that it was never meant to have.

They should have made the Maxima RWD, DSG & MT optioned and priced just below Infiniti. Made a sporty 3-series /Quattroformagio/ MBZ competitor. Unrealistic pipe dream, I know, but it beats being a fleet car. As it stands its one of those cars that everyone states is a great car to buy, but never actually buys one. I was a big fan of the Maxima until it turned into the auto-only boat. Years ago I almost pulled the trigger on a 1998 and passed it up for a six speed 2003 that got sold out from under me. Fargain sneaky bastages.

The Maxima, Impala, and Avalon are all in the same boat with their mid-size stablemates getting larger and larger with each generation. I'm not sure how their production is still justified. Is it really fleet sales? I know that's not the case for the Avalon.
