Default Newly Addicted To Subbies

I am an auto tech of 10 years living in NJ. I always liked subarus never owned one til just recently when we found out my girl was pregnant. I knew right away it was time to obtain a legacy wagon. Found a 2000 L wagon with 160k for a real good price. After doing all work it needed (brakes, wheel bearings, cats, o2s, timing belt, tune-up) I WAS ADDICTED. This car was a pleasure to work on, now it has 170k and the car runs very well and Im proud to put my baby in it. This week I bought a 99 Impreza L Wagon automatic with only 67k on it! Its time to build a fun car! Picked this one up cheap because the undercarridge is heavily rusted. Not so much on the body, more like everything bolted to it. Im not sure what i should do with this one... I need a 5 speed, so swap the motor and part out the rest? Fix this one and swap in a 5 speed tranny? I have never owned a turbo car so that needs to change as well. One thing I do know is joining this forum will be a huge help.

There is a goldmine of information here, make sure you read the stickies and you will learn a lot. These cars have a lot of character and even with your experience, things have to be done differently sometimes.

A drive train swap will make that impresa a very fun car to drive, but I would make sure you get the rust issues taken care of first.
