cobb accessport and my car
I have been running Stage 2+ SLWG OTS on a 12 wrx for the past month and a half I would say. Its getting cold up in new jersey and my boost levels are spiking higher than normal around 20.2 or so. Anybody experiencing similar problems?

Are you running a catless downpipe? If so a tune cant tune out boost creep unfortunately.

You could talk to Grimmspeed about having your turbo PnP, they might be able to open your waste gate passage up enough to fix most of your boost creep. Or you could convert your system to an external waste gate setup, but I am pretty sure you have to be protuned to run an ewg.

Colder temperatures = higher max boost. This is extremely common and not necessarily a "problem". This happens with the stock tune and with very well honed pro tunes.
You shouldn't be concerned by it. I'd just recommend running a couple data logs occasionally and making sure everything looks normal. |

I just need advice on whether I should spend the 350$ and get a custom tune at a reputable tuner or should I keep this setup?

If its boost creep, it can't be tuned out. (boost to normal psi, then slowly starts rising higher) If its a constant boost, it can be tuned out... but if its something that just started happening, then there may be something else going on mechanically. |

However an EBCS (which is what he would be running with his OTS AP map) works with the ECU to control it, so no matter the temp, your at the desired boost from 0º or 100º all the same boost |

OP ask a local tuner about this. I guarantee they will say the same. |

so, I did a couple datalogs just now. no detonation at wot, and my a/f correction/learning numbers are in between the proper range. and there is slight boost creep in 3rd gear. Hits 18 psi at 3275 rpm, then drops down to 17 evenly at 3642 rpm. starting at 17psi at 3642, its goes back up to 18.5 at 4913 evenly. acts normal after that all the way to 6k rpm. looks like I might be ok. The thing is its 55 degrees outside now, humidity 50% id say. This morning it was like 80% humidity and 44 degrees out and thats when I spiked 20.2

Even if that was the case, the AP maps IIRC are at 17psi +/- .8 so for the OP to be getting over 20pounds, something else is going wrong. |
