Default If my tranny blows what are my options.

I've been having some tranny problems that I (and several mechanics) have been unable to figure out. The general consensus is to wait till the sound gets worse, and prepare for the worst. Which is my tranny dies. I could have it rebuilt, but for that amount money it seems wiser just to replace the whole thing. Obviously I could find a used tranny and put it in there.
Where can I find a good used transmission?
(I quick searched and all I could find was +$1000 they all had roughly 40-70k miles on them)
Can I use any other transmissions other than the standard 1999-2001 2.5 RS tranny?

You can find out more about my tranny problems here.http://forums.nasioc.com/forums/show...hreadid=542399

The cheaper the better, I just lost my job.......although that may be an option. If I'm gonna spend roughly $1500, I might as well spend 2k and get a better tranny.
