Default This Thing Moves!

As a WRX owner of ten years, and then a Legacy owner for three years, I can say my latest purchase: 2019 Ascent Limited (black on black of course) can get up and move! Makes sense as they may be different engines and transmissions, but the specs rate the Ascent 8hp less than the current year WRX, and 13 ft lbs of torque less than the STi, just to give some perspective. But this is by far the best handling, smartest vehicle in the snow I have ever owned! Loving the Ascent forum already, can’t wait for it to grow! ***127867;***127867;***127867;

How do find the transmission? the fact that it downshifts way too quick kind of annoys me

My son is a Subaru mechanic and he loves the new truck! I'm afraid to sit in it for fear I'd buy one! Only thing stopping me is I can't part with my 18 year old 4.7L Durango. That truck has an awesome engine and transmission as well. It's always in the right gear! Of course the superchips tuner helps a little.

Yes!, Also the upshift from a stop light what feels like going from 1st to 6th is what does it in for me. Bogs it down so bad, press on the gas and rpms shoot up, let off, bogs down. Terrible. Been wanting to sell it but she somehow enjoys the vehicle. Subaru needs to remove the CVT and go back to a normal tranny which they were once good at making....Or even throw in a manual option the the Porsche Cayenne GTS...Now that would be some fun.

Same, and some times doesn't shift back up when you think it would either.

do the paddles "fix" this? is there a manual mode or "sport" mode to hold gears longer? I haven't driven on, but am coming around to Ascent.

The Ascent will replace a CX-5 that has a sport button that holds gears and a manual mode to control up/down shifts of the automatic transmission.
