Didn't read everything, but yes follow the rules of the road (signals, merging, passing....). Braking is an issue if not brought up yet, if someone is merging and you can't get over there is no need to hit your brakes. If someone slows down in front of you braking isn't always needed, if you follow at a proper distance. If you car stops working on the highway DO NOT leave it in the fast lane without hazard lights (true story Subaru's response saved my life and thankfully no one was next to me too). Also the highway had no street lights and there was little/no ambient light.

Really? So I bury it and merge in front of him where I'm treated to him turning his brights on at me which doesn't bother me much with a dimming mirror. Moral to the story, don't try and block a car from merging that makes three times as much power as you do. He shouldn't have been in the far left lane to even begin with. Quote:
Here's my advice. Always get up to a reasonable speed when merging onto the highway. Don't try to merge into 70 mph traffic at 30 mph, you're only ****ing over the people behind you that are trying to merge in as well with the ensuing chaos you cause. Also, merge with your gas pedal, not the brake pedal. Don't slam on your brakes in the middle of a crowded highway to merge behind someone - you're going to catch someone into the back of you by doing that. But based on all your asinine posts that I've had the misfortune to read, it's definitely a superiority complex of yours. |

98% of drivers don't know what their handbrake does. 98% of drivers are wrong.

So, in summary, he was sitting in the left lane for no particular reason. Strike one. He was speeding. Strike two. He then tried to prevent me from merging. Strike three. Three different laws he broke and I was just trying to merge onto the highway. Sorry, I'm not going to slam on my brakes because someone wants to take it upon themselves to be a delta bravo. kthnxbye. Quote:

Another big pet peeve: Stopping at a red light and the car behind you decides to stop so close to you, you can't see their headlights out of the rear view mirror. Oh, and creeping, especially because either a) the light is still red or b) the light just turned green and clearly you can't go because the guy infront hasn't started. I clearly cannot go anywhere...
I always stop at a distance that's a car length away or at least I can still see their tires. Just common courtesy, really. |

Common sense is all it takes and it seems like everyone driving around me has none of it. lol Seriously tho if people would just use some common sense when driving it would make for a much safer driving environment and would make me feel more safe while driving not because I am driving like a nut (cuz I do from time to time, not gonna lie) but because everyone else seems to be focused on everything else but driving while they are driving.

Other than that, if I'm in the right lane doing 65-70 and there is an open lane to your left, go around. I will not speed up so you don't have to put your phone down and go around. If the roads are ****ty, get off my bumper. |

I dont understand the big fuss with having 2 hands on the wheel at all times, seems unnecessary to do daily driving, like on the freeway.

Ah nj and pa drivers make me so angry i dont even know where to start!!! Im always fuming when some idiot im front of me is going under the speed limit or drives the same speed through all the speed limits.
Seriously, if you want to drive slow, be my guest. Have some common courtesy and let those who want to drive faster pass. It takes 2 seconds to turn on your blinker and let the other guy get ahead. Dont effin slow down and be a d*ck. I always let those who want to drive faster pass. I would never break check if you are on my ass. I couldnt care less, if you want to go faster, please do! Also it is a nj law to get the eff out of the way if youre not passing anyone driving in the left lane. Dont give me a finger when i get on your ass and then pass you in the right lane after you decide to drive slower than traffic and you have 20 cars behind you. I can go on forever about this haha This is a sensitive topic for me haha. I have a 110 mile daily commute to college and idiot drivers give me a really bad roadrage lol. |

I am curious about the suggestion of two hands on the steering wheel. I understand for beginner drivers or professional circuit drivers the reasoning. But if your just driving around town, and cruising on the highway, isnt it more of a chore, and potential distraction to have to constantly switch from 2 hands on the wheel, to your gear selector and back? Just wondering

Also, my car sucks in the snow. If I start to slide or the rear end starts to step out on me, the last place you're going to want to be is six inches off my rear bumper. People with SUVs and trucks drive like absolute ******** around here when it snows. It's like some sort of dick measuring contest to see who can drive the fastest when the roads are horrific. |

I wish people would use their turn signals to signal their intentions. I hate it when a car comes to a complete stop, and then turns on the signals or not turn them on at all.
Also, if I'm at a complete stop with my turn signals on, sitting in the middle of the road trying to make a left, and you see me from 200ft away; change lanes NOW instead of the last minute or braking at the last minute. On the main street to turn onto our residential street, this is how all those rear-end collisions happen. I basically do all of what was in the OT. Cruising on the highway, I usually avoid the left lane unless I need to pass. |
