The cap should only be needed on the one in the wheel well that is visible (inboard end of the metal bracket.). A cap cured my rattle immediately.

I've had a few things rattling in my car, and I just passed the 1,000 mile mark.

The biggest issue has been the rattle coming from my drivers door panel/window. The sound is mostly a slight ticking noise whenever I hit a bump, or shift aggressively. The noise will go away whenever I put slight pressure against the door panel.

I've also heard some noises from my passenger side, but I believe it's from my speakers. I'm not completely sure.

Just heard my first rattle in the driver's side door/window area for the first time last weekend when the outside temp gauge was reading 100 degrees. No idea if the temps had anything to do with it. It doesn't get driven during the week...so I'll see again today or tomorrow if it continues to rattle. Having owned a WRX in the past in addition to a few other rattle traps, I'm unfortunately fairly adept at ignoring interior rattles and buzzes.

Subaru Banner Dash Rattles

My fiance' has a 2011 Impreza 2.5i hatchback and I have a 2010 Impreza 2.5i sedan, both have a upper dash rattle on the passenger side. I'm going get to the bottom of both of these rattles myself. On hotter days the rattle seems to get worse. It almost seems like loose brackets. I will follow up with what I find.

I had that rattle with an impreza 2013. The dealership fixedvthe issue by adding padding to the dash.

That's exactly what I have - on both driver's and passenger sides. Took it to the dealer - and was "unable to duplicate". Passing the 3k mark, also sounds like there is a noise coming from the HVAC/radio area.

i have no idea how i can get a vacuum cap on the ends of those screws for the mudflaps. did rally armor change the mounting locations? the flaps i have on were from my '08 impreza but it seems exactly the same and they fit perfect. i pulled the glove box and a relay seems kinda loose, i think its supposed to be that way. i put a towel in there in case thats hitting the plastic but i dont know.

What noise is coming from the HVAC area? Is it a buzzing noise? I had that issue and the dealer had to "resecure a panel" no problem ever since.

My xv has a completely rattle free dash. But it seems to have foam between the dash and windshiekd, my Impreza didn't. Amazing how much less this XV rattles.

My dash rattles occasionally around the tweeter covers, but I just give it a smack and it stops for a while.

The bigger issue is there is a rattle in the seatbelt slider thing on the b-pillar right next to my ear.

For where?

The mud flaps? Mine had about 1/2" screw sticking out from the bottom mounting location, so just stuck a 5/32" cap over that and the rattle ended

i didn't, it goes over the threads on the back once it goes through the bracket. it just covers the threads so the screw doesn't rattle against the inner wheel well

No, do you have the flaps/brackets for the 12+ 2.0I? If you do, you should be able to see the screw I'm talking about, it is completely exposed, near the bottom of the wheel well and in several inches. It is an "L" shaped bracket

i put that bracket on and squeezed on some vacuum caps, my wife just said the rattle is almost gone, but she could be hearing things since she may need a hearing aid.

Check the screw covers in the door handle pockets. I had to glue mine down because they were making a slight ticking noise.

Speaker panels are a very common rattle on these Imprezas. I've had both of my front dash speaker panels packed with foam and they are nice and quite now. The dealer will repair these types of rattles under the factory warranty.

I removed the front speaker covers and A pillar trim, and foamed/felted the heck out of them. That removed 95% of the rattles in the car (it's amazing how they bounce around and sound like they are coming from other areas, when it's just the A pillar trim).

I still have a little bit of a rattle in the front passenger dash area, but I think I need to foam the very bottom of the A pillar trim a bit more. I also have rattles in both overhead lights and the doors, I'll tackle those next. Considering matting and foaming the doors since I'll have to remove the panels to insulate the rattling clips anyways... Not sure about the overhead lights though.

I'm very sensitive about rattles, and try to make my vehicles as quite/solid as possible. I've never had a vehicle that was perfect, but the BMWs came pretty close...Our '13 Outback is good, but had rattling A pillars as well. The Impreza feels/sounds much better with just the A pillars insulated alone!

Well, the foam is just door-frame insulating foam from Lowe's. The felt tape I purchased years ago from some online place that specialized in felt - it's sticky on one side and soft and felty on the other.
