You know I will. But first things first. My sequential gearbox should be here within the month. Going to take a bit of time and effort figuring out the right way to mate the thing to the engine...

We'll have to see where we go with this. Right now, the car is so new and I am enjoying it so much I can't see myself ripping it apart yet for R&D projects. Plus, I've got to rebuild the popped motor in my 2.5RS before I can seriously consider anything with the BRZ.

The gearbox might just sit there looking pretty for a while unless a race team speaks up and wants to partner on the fitment of it. It's not a new product. It's part of our existing product line. The BRZ fitment is the only new part.

I'll see if I can dig up the youtube video of this gearbox in an RX7. It's pretty neat viewing.

Got a really nice pair of gloves in the mail today. And imagine my surprise when I opened up the box and also found one of these...

Glad to see my old buddy Dan Teh Troll is still around...

Ok, I think I see a rear diff...
So I know something has to be special about it, and I'm horrible at the guessing game!

It's a loaner, so that I can make a proper clutch type LSD for the car. I decided not to title my thread as a build thread like everyone else. But this is the Guard Transmission BRZ product development thread.

I told them the size i wanted them to build... i guess bigger is better/ safer.
No problem on the gloves. made a guess on the size. Hope they fit.
Seal is in the mail for the passenger side.

It's out. Took a little more effort than planned. Ended up getting on All Data and reviewing the Lexus manuals because there was a slight trick to get it out and technically it requires a special tool. I have ordered the tool for future jobs, but for this time was able to come up with my own solution for removal.

Prior to removal. Notice it uses caps to hold it in place, just like the IS250/IS300 differentials.

However, this does raise a slight concern. Notice the black marks after I pulled the diff? Those caps are supposed to capture the bearing races. They have clearly been spinning in there a little bit. We don't usually like to see bearing races spin. But maybe it isn't an issue. Lexus has been using this rear end for the better part of a decade.

Here's the unit itself. Pretty compact unit, but as you can see from this and the previous picture, the ring and pinion is plenty big to throw a bit of power at it if that's what people want to do. Once finished, our LSD will easily take the power.

Here's the case stickers. If you go compare it to numbers references on the IS forums it's not the same as anything else they have listed. Doesn't mean they don't use the case, but at least from a BRZ, it's a different "part". I'd be interested to see what that scannable icon contains. I don't have a phone smart enough to snap a picture and upload. Maybe I'll find a friend who can upload it and see what information it holds.

More to come...
