Default Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer

while the first one was mediocre at best, i think this one will be a major improvement. for one ive always been a fan of the silver surfer and 2nd, that screen shot of him looks badass!!

cheap video recording from movie theater
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1wH4vbMAido

from the apple site
http://www.apple.com/trailers/fox/fa...er/medium.html

here's 2 trailers of the movie i found, the quality sux on the first one since it was probably recorded off of someone's cell fone. anyway, the action sequence is pretty amazing... enjoy

the best part of it all is that they stay faithful to the comic, which means surfer starts out as a villian. to my knowledge they have no plans on making him a good guy just yet...

I actually kinda dug the short lived animated series for the Silver Surfer.

I like these comic book movies and all, but I am kind of gettting sick of how like each one just introduces and reintroduced the whole back story and characters instead of actually jumping right into the action. Takes like 1/2 way through the movie for the main plot to actually get going.

All the X-men movies have been like that.
SuperMan Returns was way too slow starting.
Batman Begins (which was actually a great movie), had sooo much of the same backstory as all the other cheesy Batman movies from years past. OK guys, we get it - we know where Batman comes from... just start fighting some bad guys.

I have heard that Galacticus only makes an appearance at the end to set up for the 3rd movie.

I have to disagree, I really appreciate all the back story and think it adds alot to the movie. Nothing beats a great story line, w/o it you just have 2 hour cartoon.

not sure if galactus is gonna appear or not, so far ive been hearing that he wont. im guessing they're testing the waters with silver surfer, to see if he'd make a good spinoff for his own movie. he's a fan favorite, but every time they make a series for him, they seem to flop hardcore. if the movie happens to do well, then the least they'll probably do is put him in the 3rd movie.

its good to have a back story too b/c the movies derive from certain adaptations of the comic line. plus doing so helps the character development, so we can see the hero or whoever through their transitional phases. in batman begins for example... batman didnt become batman via joker, unlike how they portrayed in the original (tim burton) batman.

I concur; without the back story, most mundane folk wouldn't bother seeing the movie if they think they'd have to read a (comic) book to understand it first.

But isn't the story of Spiderman and Superman and even the X-men no different than James Bond? It's not like 007 movies need an hour of expose, right? You know who he is and what he does and how he drinks his martini even before the opening credits finish.

The whole reason why I went to see Batman Begins is because I wanted to see how they would handle the origin. I actually wished they would have shown more of his training. I hope they do in the next one.

Because the concept of a spy is pretty common in our society.

Some super-powered metallic surfer with the power cosmic who serves a planet-eating giant is not quite as intuative.

I want the next Superman movie to bring in Doomsday (the character that killed Superman) or someone big like Darkseid. Put in an alien being that can actually fight Superman, Lex Luthor is a great character but they are killing him in the movies.

I'm sure instead they will bring in some human character (Mr. Mxyzptlk or someone who is possessed by Brainiac or some-such) so they can appeal to Ma and Pa Kent from Kansas (pun?) but it's bull**** to make a movie based on a comic book hero but tailor it to people who never read a book in their lives.

Sorry to break it to you but this will be no different. In fact this will probably be even more back story, because they are really going to have to explain how and why they turned a Hero into a Villain. Unless this entire movie is a set-up for the third installment (as Balishag said about Galactus).

Why watch that crappy trailer when you can just go to the movie site and watch it in better quality?
