Cleaning of throttle body - Warrenty?
My '00 Legacy Gt was having a problem when cold where the RPM would not decrease when the clutch was engaged. It would stay the same of increase slightly.
The dealer diagnoised the problem as a sticking throttle plate and cleaned the throttle body. They claim that there was excessive oil from the K&N filter that was installed (previous owner) that was causing the sticking. Anyone else have a sticky throttle body not related to K&N? I find it hard to swallow that K&N oil can be viscous enough at 10 degree C to cause my throttle to stick.

I occasionaly get a sticky throttle when it's cold out; it's actually something I was going to look into this fall.
My car has never had a K&N or other oiled filter. But it's not that hard for things to get a little gummed up over time. Unusual for a car as new as yours, but not too surprising on one that's 100,000++ miles like mine. Did the cleaning of your throttle body resolve the problem? And did they do anything other than spray a bunch of cleaner into there? -Brian |

i had once trouble for it to open.. but not at low temp.. only after i cleaned the intake.. i guess you need to leave some residue on it. after a while it went away..

don't know if it solved the problem as the car is still at the dealer. I am just trying to get info to see if I should be paying or not.

Why would you have to leave any residue on it? --The exterior linkages probably need a little lube of some sort, but I think we're talking about the insides of the TB. You had trouble getting your TB to open? Odd. It's all cable actuated, and it doesn't take very much force, so you may have had something pretty weird going on. -Brian |

How much are they going to charge you for the service? Because unless they disassembled a bunch of intake stuff and pulled the TB out, it really shouldn't be much more than spraying some cleaner in there. ~ 1 hour charge. -Brian |
