They have similarities to both. The headlight/grill area looks almost like a direct share with the Outback. That's what gets my attention from a distance. When unmasked, I think I'll mistake it for an Outback quicker than a Forester. Kinda sucks. Wish cars had more individuality than they do. However, in contradiction, I kinda like the "family" looks.

IMO, it's because of the taller greenhouse. Forester has a much taller greenhouse than the outback, and that really differentiates the two. The forester looks more "SUV", and the outback more "CUV". The Ascent looks more SUV than bloated CUV because of the taller greenhouse.

I'm hoping the base model of this will be high $20k, but I have no clue if that's realistic for this class.

The Tribeca wasn't in that price range. NO way the Ascent will start that low. My HOPE is that it starts in the $30s. I'm thinking, depending on how they want to trim this out, that a base model will start around $37K.

Damn. Is that where the competition is at? Just seems like a big price jump for Subaru base pricing. What's the most expensive base vehicle right now that isn't the STI? I thought the Outback was like $25k? I was thinking $28k-$29k for the Ascent. Possibly $27k, but it'd be bare bones.

I assumed looks. The latest spy photos does not say "Fat Outback" IMO. If anything "Fat Forester"

They need to posture this as a Subaru alternative to a Highlander/pilot which both start at 30k. Realistically on the road, well trimmed with v6s at 36k. I guess if the ascent is going to start at the limited trim level with an fa24dit, 37k might make sense. Seems like they would be leaving sales on the table without a 30k base though.

Ok. I can see that. If I squint real hard it can also resemble a large Impreza(new one) hatch from the side or 3/4 view. Whats the word from you guys or gals that work at dealerships. The owners have seen it. No leaks?
