Are you on a map or maf based tune?

If you still use your maf sensor then you should definitely consider staying recirc

These Gen 2 GTX turbos look to be the same compressor outer dimensions and should work though I couldn't tell if the Tial turbine housings fit or not. ATP shows Garrett as having designed their own freer flowing turbine housings, "Ni-Resist," in different A/R ratios but they also appear larger in outer dimension that the Tial SS housings. Chris talks to directly to Garrett so should be able to find out.

Interestingly, it looks like a Gen 2 GTX2867 will outflow my old GT3076 and more efficiently Glad I waited to make some changes. Now if Chris will get a larger shop to accomodate some customer cars!

Garrett showed them off back in 2013 at SEMA:
http://www.motoiq.com/MagazineArticl...--Part-II.aspx

They are a bit larger in outer diameter because of the 'mohawk' which is needed to pass burst and containment on the GT30-35 housings. The GT28 v-band housings do not have the mohawk. The turbine inlet flange is a bit higher compared to the Tial to give the exhaust flow a straighter shot into the housing for higher turbine efficiency. The turbine outlet flange is pushed in closer to make it shorter and more compact.

I have no verified, but sources tell me there are no external differences that should affect fitment.

Default Killer B OEM-ish TURBO Kit GTX3067-R with Tial Turbine Housing 'The Spoolinator'

What is different with "gen2" GTX turbos?

Also. While googling, I came across this: http://www.atpturbo.com/mm5/merchant...egory_Code=GTX

Looks like you can get the comp housing with a 3" inlet already, why the need to machine a 3" custom with your kit?

I'm guessing the Tial housings fit. ATP lists them as an option for the gen2 3071

Speaking of, no gen2 3067? I see a 2867 and a 3071. But no 3067 for gen2. Is that correct?

Goal of 400+/400+ whp/trq with fast spool and wide power band. 3500-6500/7000 would be perfect. On 93oct pump gas
IAG stage 2 block 2.5L (EJ257)
Stock WRX heads and cams
ID1000 and other supporting fuel mods
Killer-B header (but will need EWG stubbed in)

Gen 1 GTX 3067R 0.82 Tial housing
Or
Gen 2 GTX 3071R 0.82 Tial housing (maybe even .63?)

From what I'm reading, the gen2 3071 is supposed to have significant spool increases vs gen1, but the only discussion I've found is on a VW forum discussing a 1.8l motor.

But if the spool is really that much better, maybe the g2 3071 is the key?

Im also hearing the gen 3071 would be one to get for your goals. that would be one sweet setup.

Killer B liked the 0.63 tial on the 3067 but for a gen 2 3071 with your power goals I would choose the 0.82 tial housing.

You dont mention the spoolinator kit, would you use that? If so, that comes with an ewg port already. That would be my dream setup on a 2.5. On my ej207 I would love a gen 2 2867 with 0.63 tial spoolinator kit!

Yes I would use the spoolinator kit. But the spoolinator kit does not "come" with EWG as it does not come with an up-pipe.

You get the vband up-pipe ADAPTER, which bolts to your existing stock location turbo up-pipe. Mine is not EWG, so it will need to be added.

There should be no problems with this combination.

Compressor wheel aero changes.

Additionally, we trim the inlet, add a weld bead, grind the areas of contact with the bellhousing to reduce belhousing material removal, and add the boost port.

Sadly the 3067 has been cut. Something to consider though, is the 3067 actually had the 2867 compressor wheel mated to the 30R turbine. With the 2867 now available as Gen II I would expect the increase in compressor aero may compensate for the smaller 28R turbine housing, and produce very similar power results, with even better response. Speculation on my end, but it would not surprise me if it played out like this.

It's been years since we've run a 3071, but it was a good ~400whp turbo on pump fuel back then. Without testing the Gen II I wouldn't know what to recommend on the turbine housing side, but starting with the 0.82 is a pretty safe bet. Changing housings to better cater to your needs is only a housing away.

Correct. Spoolinator works with anyone's up-pipe.

Thanks for the clarification. When you do this, do you start with the 4" inlet version? Or the 3" inlet version?

For some reason I thought you started with a 4" inlet version, milled off the 4", drilled some holes, and machined a new 3" inlet and bolted it to the compressor. Is that not the case? Is that what you used to do before the 3" was available? Or maybe I'm confusing this with something you did with your low-mount setup.

If I were to order this, and tell you that I planned to run the compressor outlet pointed "up", would you then grind off a different portion of the compressor?

Getting excited for this. From all the info I've been able to find, gen2 GTX3071R + Tial 0.82 hotside should be perfect for my goals. Would you be able to integrate that into your kit (as in buy it all from you)?

We start with the T04B, which is the 3" inlet.

That was on the low mount. We did that to get around space constraints, and found it also improved surge capabilities, which Garrett confirmed as they had performed similar tests.

We've never done that before and out donor block is long gone. If you wanted to do it yourself, the operation isn't that difficult as long as you have a sander or grinder. Assuming pointing the housing up will only mean you grind a bit more and in different areas.

Absolutely, we haven't made the changes to our website as it will add many more part numbers for our vendors, but we can accommodate whichever 30/35R turbo you'd like.

Bumping this up as I got to tune another one the other day.

This kit had the GTX3582 on it and as usually with KB parts did not fail to impress.

Laid down an amazing 660whp, unfortunately the tach pick up was damaged so I didn't get a TQ reading, but running the graph through in virtual showed 575ftlbs to match the 660whp.
It also carried 640-650whp all the way to 7600rpm.
300FTLBs by 3600rpm
500ftlbs by 4200
20psi comes at 3800rpm and is at 36psi by 4300.

Relevant mods are built long block, GSC S2 cams, iD2000, Twin Walbro 450s, KillerB Header and Spoolinator kit with an ETS FMIC. Tuned on E85

Very nice!

So here's a question Jr... For someone thinking of Subaru Nationals this year, does this kit qualify as OEM location?

The Gen II 3582 should make 50-75 more whp by my estimates.

Well yeah. You get the uncatted Killer B DP which I think is 304 SS? I think? It definitely altered my exhaust tone. In the long run I ended up changing my catback.
