Reviews sound pretty apologetic. The throttle-cut with all aids off is unforgivable.

It really says something about a car, its engineers and the target buyer when it has a fancy LCD screen which eliminates traditional dial gauges...

...and then they program it to display a traditional dial gauge.

I think we've seen the last of the truly hairy-chested monster machines from Sant'Agata.

Say hello to Audi's new "Mediterranean flavor". I'm sure it will find fans in Guangdong.

A "safe" exotic for the image-conscious and unskilled driver.

Clearly, Lambo understands that owners who crap themselves (or die) as a result of a neutral handling setup aren't likely to buy another.

Here's hoping that the inevitable RWD model will thin the herd.

I think this car looks better than the Aventador and has more "lambo soul" than the Aventador too. Would take it over a 458, but probably not over a 650S.

Just for info: The 4WD overheating comes from a different front tire being used. In this video the tires used were 235/35 R20 (Pirelli Trofeo R) which has a larger diameter than the factory 245/30 R20 (Pirelli P Zero) and therefore has less revs than the smaller tire, which puts huge stress on the 4WD system. They´ve used Trofeo R´s in this size because the 245/30s were not available***65279;

Wow yeah nothing left. Guess the guy should have driven the road first before he went balls out. One bump like that and you're finished...

My friend found an article about it, apparently they made it out alive; one of them dragged the other out of the wreck iirc.

Default Two dead after Lamborghini crashes into wall barrier at SpeedVegas driving attraction

Quote:
Two dead after Lamborghini crashes into wall barrier at SpeedVegas driving attraction

Driving a Lamborghini, especially on a track, should be an exhilarating experience. At speeds of around 200 mph, a Lamborghini should be a very exciting sports car to drive. However, speed could kill.

This was recently proven when two men – both of driving age – were killed following a car crash involving a Lamborghini sports car in Las Vegas. It was supposed to be a fun track-day driving experience for a client at SpeedVegas, a track center that offers customers a way to fulfill their dreams of driving exotic cars without having to buy or lease one. But the dream for this particular customer turned into a nightmare.

This customer, a male in his 30s, availed of the Lamborghini driving experience from SpeedVegas. The track center is offering two Lamborghini driving experiences – one on a Huracan while the other is a ride on a Gallardo. The Huracan experience costs $79 per lap, with a minimum of five laps. The Gallardo experience is cheaper at $59 per lap, also with a minimum of five laps. Each of these sports cars have max speeds of around 200 mph, and crashing even at speeds of 100 mph is not a joke.

The male customer, however, was not alone. He was accompanied by a SpeedVegas instructor who is in his late 50s. According to the police, the instructor had been a long-time professional driver at the SpeedVegas course – a Formula One-inspired track that measures 1.5 miles.

Initial police investigation showed that the driver lost control of the white Lamborghini sports car, causing it to spin out. Then the sports car crashed into a barrier wall (concrete wall with tire barrier) and burst into flames. A driver passing by the SpeedVegas race track was able to record the burning Lamborghini on video and uploaded it on Twitter. The accident – which occurred at around 1:30 p.m. on February 12, 2017 – instantly killed the driver and the instructor.

Further investigation will be led and conducted by the Nevada Occupational Safety and Health Administration as the accident was on private property. It has been classified as an industrial accident, not as a road accident.

Aaron Fessler, co-founder and chief executive of SpeedVegas, confirmed the accident in a statement. He said that SpeedVegas is fully cooperating with investigators, adding that the company is devastated by the event. Fessler also expressed sympathy to the families and friends of the two men killed in the accident.

This wasn’t the first time that someone died during a track experience. In April 2015, a driving instructor was killed following a nasty accident at the Disney World Speedway in Florida. The accident also involved a white Lamborghini.

We knew it was going to be fast. And there were rumors that it beat the Porsche 918 Spyder hypercar, which incidentally lapped the infamous Nürburgring in just 6:57. Turns out, those rumblings we heard of “six-fifty-two-something-something” were correct: Lamborghini just lapped the Nürburgring in 6:52.01 with its new Huracán Performante.
and BOOM goes the dynamite

Finally, a Lamborghini that isn't a race car that can go fast on a race track with minimal fuss. Wonder how much they had to change to wring that kind of performance out of it?

Default Lamborghini Huracan Performante Revealed, Delivers 640 HP

Lamborghini Huracan Performante Revealed, Delivers 640 HP

Ahead of the 2017 Geneva Motor Show, Lamborghini has unwrapped its brightly colored Huracán Performante supercar. After teasing the public for the better part of a month, Lamborghini released a titanic video that shows the Huracán Performante absolutely stomping the infamous Nürburgring Nordschleife. Now, in the lead-up to the auto show, Lamborghini shed the camouflage and provided us with information on just how the Huracán Performante was able to achieve such a ludicrous 6:52.01 lap time.

As we’ve mentioned in previous posts, the new special-edition Huracán comes with a host of improvements, including a drastic diet that uses forged carbon fiber, something first seen in the Sesto Elemento. Totaling around 88 pounds, the forged carbon fiber pieces drop the weight to just over 3,000 pounds.

Lamborghini Huracan Performante side profile

The Huracán Performante’s naturally aspirated 5.2-liter V-10 engine receives 30 more horsepower, generating 640 ponies at 8,000 rpm. More than 70 percent of the car’s 443 lb-ft of torque is available at a mere 1,000 rpm, allowing the Huracán Performante to crack off 0-62 mph times of just 2.9 seconds. It will then hit 124 mph just 6 seconds after 62 mph.

Underneath the Huracán Performante’s lovely skin, Lamborghini stiffened the entire car by 10 percent with new springs, roll bars, and radial and axial arm bushings. The magnetorheological suspension has been heavily revised to provide a more track-focused character, and the variable-ratio Lamborghini Dynamic Steering is now standard after being recalibrated for the Huracán Performante.

However, the Huracán Performante’s real party trick, as we’ve mentioned previously, is its trick ALA system (Aerodinamica Lamborghini Attiva). Forged carbon-fiber is used in the Huracán Performante’s active aero elements in the front splitter, rear diffuser, and wing. Each piece has individual elements that are able to open and close independently of each other, allowing the car to either go into low-drag mode or increase the amount of aero on a side to “aero vector” the car through a turn.

Lamborghini Huracan Performante rear three quarter 02

According to Lamborghini, the electronically controlled ALA system is 80 percent lighter than traditional hydraulic systems, such as those found in McLaren and Ferrari cars. However, it’s these electrically controlled flaps that allow the Huracán Performante to slay the Nürburgring with such ferocity. In high-speed cornering and full braking instances, thanks to ALA, the Huracán Perfomante develops 750 percent more downforce than the standard Huracán coupe.

Speaking ahead of the Geneva Motor Show, Automobili Lamborghini’s chairman and CEO Stefano Domenicali said, “The Huracán Performante is the convergence of technological developments to produce a car delivering perfect performance. This new car represents the powerhouse of Lamborghini DNA and innovation, and a 360-degree approach to creating class-leading super sports cars. It illustrates the pinnacle of Lamborghini V-10 production car performance to date, on both track and road, and is perfectly exemplified by its name: Lamborghini Huracán Performante.”

The first customers will take delivery of the Huracán Performante this summer, and each will come with a price tag of $274,390. No word on whether or not Lamborghini will make the Huracán Performante a limited run or whether it will be available along with the standard Huracán LP 580-2 and LP 610-4.
