Saw those pics Joe, super jealous.

was just talking to the wife today about moving back to the pacnw, then saw your photos. did you get any splitting in, or was it just to head up? That's one drive I never did (summer trip up Mt. Baker). Hoping I'll be back to do it before the 2 year mark.

I can't stop thinking about boarding, the K2 panoramic is just staring at me, telling me to buy it...

Just drove up to Artist Point with the lady friend (which actually goes up and over the ski area to the backside). Incredible views. Ended up stopping by the Heather Meadows base area for some pics then too. Lots of ski touring going on up there still. And really you don't need to have a split to make some laps. You can drop in near Table Mountain on the top of the loop and shred down to the lower loop near the base area and hitch a ride back up. I might try that in the next few weeks, I need some turns! I put more pics on FB, but if you haven't seen them here's some more....

Shuksan with Chair 2 in the foreground....

Baker from Artist Point.

Table mountain on the far left in the foreground with Artist Point parking lot in the middle....check out the road, TONS of snow still....

Shuksan on the right in the background, backside of Hemispheres in the middle. The saddle on the left in the foreground drops in bounds to the Canyon. I didn't realize that the backside of Hemispheres was a shear cliff.

Definitely need to get your split together, Dave!

can you explain this a little more? is the loop the road or is it a specific hike? We might shuttle mountain bikes down in bellingham. If the road is the loop, we might just shuttle the snowboards too.

^^Yeah, the loop is the road. From the upper parking lot, you can make a short hike to the base of Table and drop in the valley to the north and ride down to the lower parking lot near the Heather Meadows base of the ski area.

I'm already planning a week in Colorado (my yearly bro trip) to hit Silverton Mountain a few days, plus a few more days around Summit County. Probably gonna hook up with Big Red Cats again for at least a weekend too.

For those not familiar with Silverton Mountain, check it out. It's lift served guided backcountry. Can't wait.

My buddies from back home went there last year. Sounds ill.

I'm a Stevens regular myself. The woods there are awesome and you can usually find something fresh if you know where to look.

Premier season is almost here!

9/13/12 - Absinthe Films Resonance (The Egyptian)

9/14/12 - TGR's Further (The Neptune)

10/11/12 - TGR's Dream Factory (The Neptune)

Yes It's A Movie Too is also coming out, but no tour dates yet. Last year's flick was awesome, can't wait for this year's.

Lots of other movies out there too, post more if you see 'em! In the mean time I've got last year's movies on repeat.

Hmm...I see a summer ski trip to Baker coming up in my future.

True story: last September (Labor Day) my friend and I were climbing Baker from the south side. We got to base camp (base of the Emmons glacier IIRC??) and got all set to wake up about 1am for the summit push. We did a bit too much "celebrating" and after all the hiking and preparation we'd done (and driving from Ellensburg and Wenatchee)...I forgot to set the alarm. My friend woke me up at 5am and was like "AARON! IT'S 5!!" My reply was "Well, we ain't leaving now. I'm going back to sleep..."

We could have left and still made it I think, but tempting fate isn't something I like to make a habit of.

I LOVE the Baker area.

According to Baker's FB page, they got a dusting on the arm last night.

in other news, i got my season passes in the mail for my family. booyeah.

Anyone ride Union Force bindings? I've been thinking of getting a pair for my Capita Ultrafear. A friend of mine has some super lightweight version, but something breaks every year. I'm hoping this doesn't happen to all of their bindings.

Yup, everyone got a slight dusting on the higher elevations the other night. Definitely a chill in the air the last few mornings too. Fall is here, winter is coming!

I've got a couple boxes arriving in the next few days too, gotta love new gear season! I actually sold the Lib I bought over the summer, but replaced it with Another board I've been wanting. Split gear is coming in too. Also started reading Staying Alive in Avalanche Terrain, by Bruce Tremper. Looking at Level 1 avy classes for this winter too. I plan on doing about 50/50 resort to BC riding this winter, which is why I didn't end up getting a pass again this year. Plus I like having the freedom to hit different mountains and not feel like I have to go to Stevens because I have a pass.

As far as Unions go, I haven't bought into the hype. They feel cheaply made, and are known to fall apart. Hopefully now that they have a premier rider on their team, maybe they'll start building better products. I might give them a shot in a year or so.

Buying my pass this week...

My friend switched all his boards from Bent Metal (which broke all the time) to Union. I think he has 3 different sets. He likes them a lot and I don't think he's had any issues with them.

All I need is a new pair of gloves. I just replaced a lace in my boots and I'm ready to rock.

Hey do you post over on snowboardingforum.com? I'm ready for a new season to start. Let's hope this dry weather doesn't hold once the temps start dropping.
