Draft is tonight. Going to be pretty exciting.

Eberle for Strome last night, thoughts?

This offseason has been awesome. Except for the Blues, who continue to do nothing with massive holes.

Great pick up for the Islanders.

Also, I think Drouin is big for the Habs. I'm a big Drouin fan, and I think he'll play well in his hometown. Not sure what the Habs are doing on D, giving up Sergachev, and then Beaulieu for a 3rd round pick to Buffalo. Thanks Bergevin!

CBJ trade Saad, Forsberg, and a 5th round pick in 2018 to Chicago for Panarin, Motte, and a 6th round pick this year.

I like it. CBJ aren't gonna use Forsberg and Saad just never really fit in. His success back with Chicago seemed to more a product of his line mates as opposed to being a pure scorer himself.

Yotes making serious moves. Depending on who the Rangers draft with that pick, looks like a steal for Arizona as of now.

Should be interesting to see if NJ made the right choice with Hischier 1st overall. They'll get to play Nolan on Philly a lot.

Sabre's picked Phil Kessel V2 at #8. Casey Mittelstadt who's a pure scorer, but couldn't do a single pull up at the last combine.

Neither could Drew Doughty. But the NHL has worked out for him, I think.

Let's start slow, because the Canucks have to win one before they can think about a repeat.

Well I digested this trade a lot today.

So last night was a bit surreal. Trading Lehtera for Schenn is a move that makes the Blues better across the board, who gives about the picks involved. Lehtera had 22 points last year and that was playing with Tarasenko for over 1/2 the year. He is awful, and overpaid.

Schenn is young, bigger, stronger, better PK, better PP player, and he's a bonafide #2 center IMO. On the Blues he instantly makes multiple facets better. No joke, Schenn may be worth 4-5 wins this season over Lehtera.

Onto Reaves. Well, it stings. I mean, really stings. Reaves is probably my favorite Blue, or was. He epitomizes everything about what it means to be a great guy, for his fans and his team. He is so loved in this city, like SO loved. The twitter reaction last night proved that, hell when my kids woke up this morning and asked how the draft went they both cried when I said Reaves had been traded. My 8 year old asked if they got Crosby back from Pittsburgh lol, that's how much he means to this city. Had he played his entire career here, he would have been vaunted like Stan Musial, Bernie Federko, and Yadier Molina. It's not because of his talent, it's genuinely the man and friend to the city he is. Last night I was broken up. Most of you know how much I hate Pittsburgh, I'll likely buy a Reaves Penguins jersey. No joke.

Now that the sappy non rational hockey **** is out of the way. The Pens got fleeced.

They dropped 20 spots and gave up a better than average center prospect for a 4th line grinder who on a hockey level is little more than a tough guy with a little scoring touch. The Blues used the 31st pick to take the highest ranked European skater as the last pick in the first round....I mean wow. Had he not been hurt he may have been top 5, according to some scouts he'd have been top 5 last year in a stacked draft. Obviously the short term doesn't mean as much, but if Kostin works out to be even a B prospect then it's a giant coup for the Blues.

This is one where I think both teams get what they perceived they wanted. The Pens wanted a tough guy to "protect" Crosby, Malkin, and Letang and were willing to pay. The Blues wanted Kostin and would have probably taken him at 27 but traded that pick to Philly. When he was there at 30, they made the move necessary to get him. That's my theory.

Emotional level, I will miss Reaves like you wouldn't believe. On a hockey level, I am jazzed for Kostin. He immediately becomes a top 5 forward prospect for the Blues.

The Blues essentially gave up a Reaves, Lehtera, and a 1st for a 2nd, Schenn, and Sundquist.

I am so unbelievably happy with Doug Armstrong, that stupid bastard finally did something right. Now lock up Parayko long term and we'll be square.
