True. I was expecting a two liter in the upcoming Si..But maybe there's more too it then just mandated mpg, lost R sales from easy ecu flash, etc. Maybe Honda will have different Type R's or should I say Editions. But realistically it's just about keeping the Si price down and making money.

It is an excellent chassis. It would have been epic with the Accord Sport engine. I say it is a missed opportunity as I feel there are a ton of people shopping in this segment that want a little less ruckus than the CTR offers but a little more oomph than the 1.5T. However, I do understand the marketing behind it all.

I don't know why Honda doesn't want the Si nameplate to occupy the same space as the WRX, GLI, GTI. But maybe, that's their plan to not necessarily directly compete but be a somewhat of their own segment. I see this new Si (especially now that they dropped the adaptive suspension) as a direct competitor to the Kia Forte GT and Elantra N-Line. They are very similar products minus the LSD but can be realistically had at much cheaper price (pre-Covid).

Seriously? The Civic hatch trunk is cavernous, way more useful than a GTI or Mazda3 hatch trunk. Those are only useful if you make them a 2 seater.

Seeing the new sedan on the road, it looks good. The wheel/fitment look on the Sport is perfect.

The local dealer now has a few hatches on the lot. I got a look at them but they were closed so wasn't able to check out the interior. The back end of the hatch is very nothing-looking, which is a big improvement to me. A GT3 style wing would balance that out perfectly heh

Saw the new sedan this weekend. Looks great. Nicest looking Civic in a while. Didn't look too big, either.

May have to add this to my test drive list, I'm so over the place and unable to make a decision given the current car climate. Don't really care for the rear on the hatch but the hatch would be much more functional for me hauling **** around

Agree, on the road it looks small. In the lot next to some accords it seems big.

Took a look at the hatch at the dealer today. If they had the manual I probably would have bought one for the hell of it haha. Really nice interior and the hatch is great. Lots of room with seats down. I didn’t drive it since I was short on time and didn’t want to be bummed out by a CVT.

For sure, any color would be nice. I guess MT+color+hatch will be the realm of the Integra.. for now. So you'll pay a $3-$5k premium for an actual color and an ugly grill

For whatever reason, Honda views the Si as a bargain sporty car, and wants the price to be in line with mid-range Civics. So it's not going to get a 2.0T or anything that would push the price up near $30k.

I think the formula works for them, I see the cars everywhere. Same for the Sport hatch and sedan, throw some sporty wheels and body kit on a base Civic and it's a huge seller. I paid $21k for my 2017 Sport hatch 6mT, it was a steal really. But now the base Sport hatch loses the 1.5T, so meh.

All depends on what you're putting in them. Groceries? Sure, maybe there's room. Tall boxes or containers? Not unless you want to break your rear window.

I really think these manufacturers need to drop the "hatch" moniker for lift backs. They are not hatchbacks. They do not have the same vertical space that some people who shop for hatchbacks are looking for. However, when they call it a "hatch", they get lumped into the same category and all of the sudden it looks like the hatch segment is huge, but it's not.

I agree. It's a liftback and there's nothing wrong with labeling it as such. But I think most manufacturers that make this type of body style call it a liftback. What other manufacturers call something like this a hatchback?

I've heard "sportback" as well. In the mid-1990s most sporty two door cars were of this sort (Mustang, Camaro, Corvette, RX7, etc).

I loved my 97 Subaru Impreza Wagon White 5 speed fake hood scoop. It was fun to drive, great snow and it had real Hatch for my work boxes coming home. And the girls thought it was cute. Ewww..never a bit trouble too

That's a decent increase from the $25k+ for the last Si.

Did the 10th gen Si have any pricy options that everyone usually got anyway that bumped the price up? And that this new Si comes with standard? That's what I figured was going on, but doesn't look that way from press release. New Si is de-contented of the mode-adjustable dampers too.

This gives me hope that they will charge $50k for the new Type R just to screw with the dealers.

No. It had essentially no options at all, besides the summer tires.

This is $27K not inclusive of destination fee, and the old one was $25k. We're in a state of massive inflation. A $2k increase doesn't seem unreasonable.

The added features were rev match from the type R, supposed better power curve, lighter flywheel, thicker sway bars, stiffer bushings different steering system that is supposedly better.

It lost 5 HP, adjustable dampers, and I believe heated seats. And fake vents. Maybe the added paint added $2k.

The $25k price point made it appealing for what you got.

Can’t see any features it gained over the 10th gen. Bose stereo but 10th gen Si had an upgraded stereo also. It’s especially pricey compared to the 2020 Si which got LEDs, and unique wheels.

My 2020 Si just got a value bump.
