How is the S-AFC related to the O2 sensors?

I have been looking into either the S-AFC or S-AFR. Do these units employ the O2 sensor to read and adjust parameters? If so, does it utilize one or both O2 sensors and will a CEL eliminator on the rear O2 sensor prevent the S-AFC (or AFR) from working properly?

It does nothing with either O2 sensor. The S-AFC alters fuel by modifying the signal from the MAF or MAP sensor before the ecu. However, on a MY98-99, you can wire it up so that you can monitor the front O2 sensor voltage from the sensor check screen.
