I hope Nick gives the membership DB, and all the technical posts back to the rightful owner, hops onto a bus with the mods on this site that happen to be lame, and jumps it off a cliff!

Gee and to think a while back, I gave money so they can keep this site going. I think I should get preferential treatment A server for those of us who have been here and a slow arse server for all the newbies.

300GHz and 300MB of RAM? I don't know...

Are you sure that wasn't 300 Calzones and 300 Pizzas?

The reference is obvious.

He's probably about 1/2 of that this site is at. We don't have members, but traffic wise, it's like 40 members and then like 70 guests... so it's not that bad...

and dammit Eric, let us rip if so like

Default So uhh..

I really don't understand the hating newbies thing. I know that makes me not cool (let alone that I just joined when I got my WRX a few months ago) but.. Shoot, it just doesn't make sense. I have been in quite a few car clubs like this or otherwise and there has always been a small group with this mentality. Seems rather simplistic and.. Like they are missing the point. Is this a clique or a car club? Are we still in Jr. High? What good is a club if you can't accept new members? Maybe I am missing something in the intent of i-club.

Another curious thing.. If this site sucks so bad.. What are you doing here? I mean.. That is just silly. Like shopping at Albertsons just so you can tell all the customers how much it sucks. Just go to Safeway! If you have something better, go to it - leave this inferior place to us inferior people.

i agree with you regarding the n00bs thing as long as they at least try to understand that it is annoying to ask stupid questions without searching first. if they act mature and friendly, they should get the same in return. i have noticed the community on the other site being MUCH friendlier to the n00bs than they are on this site. this site has been terrible to noobs as far as i'm concerned.

and regarding your second comment, we have to come here because of the technical forums.

That's a personal choice and I am pretty sure.. Not the point of NASIOC's forums. Site performance.. Yeah, at times I have seen it slow, though I am not on here every day. But.. Coming previously from Maxima.org.. This site is amazing.

Please tell me (email me if you want, might be better) how i-club is superior? I started out on i-club when I first started shopping for a WRX, and I was impressed. I am not so much anymore. There are a few people who are on there constantly, and.. Not talking about anything having to do with Scoobies. Gets pretty annoying, and keeps me checking NASIOC for any serious car issues or questions I have. Please note that I mean this in a conversational manner and am not trying to start crap. Just a user's experience if you will. I also didn't really know what went on between the head honchos of i-club and never have really understood what went on (maybe that would help).

so here's the short story. nick thought alex was neglecting the best interests of the site, so with the support of the mods here, he locked alex out of the site he created. as you can imagine, alex was pretty pissed and thus the tension. so basically, people who liked alex went to i-club (ie BAIC since nick is east coast), and some people who were and are very loyal to alex still hold grudges against nick and this site. does that help?

I guess my problem (well, one of them.. Heh) was that I was not lumping everyone into the newbie category. I think that someone that is just.. "New" is not the same as someone who is dumb or lacks common sense. But I mean jeez.. We all were new at something once. I apparently (or someone who was playing with my keys) set my alarm to 'valet mode' and didn't know what was going on. I looked around, did a search on the alarm (didn't know about valet mode), looked in my owners manual and didn't see anything that helped. I posted a question about it and got the typical "congratulations for being the thousandth idiot to.." yada yada yada. I mean - sure, I guess I could have gone to the dealer and gotten that neat pamphlet I was supposed to get and all that, but.. It was just a question. If that's a crime - then I don't belong here.

Every car club or whatever has things like that though.. That's what FAQ's and search is for. I agree that if someone signs on for the first day and asks the same question that the last 100 newbies asked is irritating, but.. We need to remember that he doesn't know we were asked that 99 times before and he probably thinks he has a genuine question. Does that make sense? Not trying to justify it, just.. Playing devil's advocate I guess. I guess it comes of working in a HelpDesk environment for a few years - getting asked the same.. stupid stupid questions every day. GOOD LORD do some searching, take some initiative and try to learn something yourself.. Yeah, but.. We are not all like that. I always had to remind myself that this person on the phone has no idea that I have been asked if the network is down 37 times prior to this conversation before I say "yeah, it's down -we boxed it up and shipped it back, won't be here till Thursday."

I guess all I am saying is.. Can't we all get along? There are stupid people everywhere - it's how we deal with it that matters.

yeah, i guess if you have the time and patience to sit around and cut and paste the same answers to the same questions that all the noobs ask, then we should be able to leave them alone. some people just have more patience than others. and yes i do agree that there are incredible numbers of incredibly stupid people out there.
