Default Finger Lakes RallyCross 03/02/02

We're getting started early this year. Our first event is planned for March 2nd. All the information is posted below. We have a lot of fun at these, even if you're not a serious competitor, it's a great opportunity to drive as fast as you want in the dirt. The track is about 8 or 9 tenths of a mile, pretty smooth, and we try to get in 6 runs for the day.

Come check it out, if you decide to drive, great, if not, it's a lot of fun to watch. Any questions, email me at [email protected], PM me, or just post here.

What vehicles are allowed. Trucks, wink wink? Just curious... I think I would roll it. But I can rally it in sand dont roll... depends on the grip of the race surface!

I dunno about march 2, I'll be at Rallispec that day, but I am definitely down for June. Are snow tires better in dirt than re-92's? Cuz I plan to use my snow tires for SOMETHING this year since we've gotten jack for snow.

Trucks, as a general rule, are not allowed because they've rolled in the past and probably will again. Basically, no "high center of gravity vehicles", but there are exceptions. Some trucks and SUVs are much less safe than others, and some drivers have enough experience with this type of driving that it's not a big issue. Are you in a Montero? I know for a fact that they are well suited for offroad driving, however, this is one of the few cases it's not my decision. PM me the vehicle and experience and I'll look into it. The ground isn't so rough that it will roll, because we have had pickup trucks (driven by people with years of prorally experience) get good times with no problems.

Snow tires will be better than RE92s. Much better.

Im glad you think highly about the monteros. Me thinks I might roll it. I think I will sit this out untill I get my exo roll cage. Better safe than sorry.

Here is why I might roll:
These are 33's...

This is my truck:

I thought it over... can I race it. Sure... but why. I wouldnt be very competative. Maybe in a year or two I will get a older rs or something else I can rally. Get a cage... mod it up. It will happen, just not now.

Or I could steal one of Paisans xt6's to rally, he has two, he wont even notice.

Haha, I didn't realize you were sitting on those tires... That's pretty sweet, but not exactly something you would want on this rallycross.

Believe it or not but in the form I have it in right now it is one of the most stable suvs on the road. I increased my width with those tires about 10 inches. I also have much higher spring rate due to my front torrsion bar adjustments. With both of my sway bars on I can drift it. It does take a little bit of gut checking to do it. If you drove a regular montero, and then my truck, I think the difference would suprise you. The only negative is that the tires affected my gearing making me a little less peppy. Not like the 145 hp v6 with my 5,000 plus curb weight was very peppy to begin with. Zephere and mud holes are the only thing two people/things that can get me when I rally it.

You should try to make it to the pine barrens run. Its feb17.

Actually, I'm going to try. I was planning on moving that weekend, but I'm rushing to get it done ahead of time, and if I can, I may be down there.

I also have a 3 day weekend from work, which makes it easier.
