So i have been thinking about getting an evo 3 16g from blouch for my 20k wrx. I was thinking on putting some sti 550 injectors in, swapping the turbo and getting my ecu re-flashed to run properly. Eventually I will get a standalone unit and have it professionally tuned most likely at PDX Tuning.

Is this a bad idea with out building my lower end first? I really don't want to pop my engine. Thoughts, suggestions?

you should already have 550 injectors...the car should be fine with a tune unless you wanna push 18+psi daily

Has anyone put in an EVOIIIB16G on an EJ20G? I'm assuming you can either

1) run a silicon 90 bend or
2) intake manifold spacers and go underneath like suberdave?

As for your question... I plan on doing the exact same setup and running the car to the ground. BUT, I do have a spare shortblock at my disposal when that happens so downtime will be minimal (hopefully).

it will also depend on how hard you plan on beating that motor... boost levels?

My 20k is rocking a td04 stock turbo with what i have been told are 440 cc injectors. I also was just introduced to the FP 68HTA... Now I get to research this turbo...

But as far as how hard I would be pushing my engine/turbo is going to be based on how much the stock bottom end. Even if I run the stock 14.7 psi it will still be flowing more air into the engine.

if your stock turbo is a tdo4 what you have is a late 20g not a 20k. You will def. need bigger injectors for a 16g. Keep in mind these motors are 9:1 so tuning is pretty critical and you can not run as high of boost
