Default OBDII Cable and Software for Windows Mobile v5.0

Hey

I need some advice on where to buy suitable software and a lead which will allow me to hook my PDA with Windows Mobile v5 to my OBDII port via a USB connection and read the ECU data on my 04WRX including boost, injector duty cycle, EGT etc

What are the best solutions to go for and where can I buy them.

thanks in advance

Nology.com sells an OBD-II cable and software for codes and road dyno; no maps or tuning though.

Enginuity.org has tuning software (for free) that runs on WIndows. NOt sure of the mobile platform though. Also needed is a cable from Tactrix.com that is USB to OBD-II. again, doubtful if it works on a PDA.

I don't know much or anything about PDAs, but if it's what I think it is (essentially an extremely downsized laptop) then look into ECUexplorer.

Maybe it will work on your PDA? I don't know. Good luck.

Windows Mobile on a handheld is not the same as Windows 2000/XP/Vista on a laptop.

If you're looking for a temporarily connected device to get realtime datalogging and tuning then get a laptop.
If you're looking for something a little more permanent then you're talking about building a carputer system. Nice setup, but quite honestly, unless you're adding in the Nav and entertainment features, there are better alternatives.

You could just get a v.2 AP and leave it hooked up. Or you can get EcuTek loaded on with the Delta-dash for logging, tuning and display.

^^^thanks Chris

as you correctly pointed out, windows mobile and a normal OS are like chalk and cheese.
I can find plenty of software for windows thanks to everyone here, it just seems like the tuning companies haven't taken the leap on mass to a windows mobile solution, probably as it's more novelty than anything.

Despite that, I have found a company in the UK but they want the equivalent of $500 for the cable and software!! Considering I can obtain a cable from Tactrix and then obtain free software, this solution seems pricey.

However, I would really like a solution for my handheld as it currently being used for calls, sat nav and has a home in my car. I don't want the cockpit of my car to look like the DeLorean out of Back to the Future so the smart phone solution seemed to be the way to go.

I don't know which handheld you are using but typically you can't use the Nav and talk on the phone at the same time because the nav disables the phone.

Even if you're able to find a Windows Mobile compatible application for a Subaru ECU doesn't mean it will be any good.

I think you should consider the Accessport then. It can be dash mounted or stuck in the glove box out of the way and you'll get a tone of great features. Good luck in the search.
