Default Obviously Tyler's 2016 WRX Journal - Clean and Simple

Well, I figured I'd start my own thread for my WRX. I picked it up in late January of 2016. Most maintenance is done myself and I've installed most of my own mods so far. It's been a fun learning experience. Anything I can't do is done by the guys at R/T Tuning.

It's a 2016 WRX Premium. Silver was not my first choice of color, but I jumped on the first one available on the dealer's lot. I got a great price being an employee. Plus, some of you might remember my 2014 Impreza which was also silver.

My goal here is to 'build' it as clean and as simple as possible without going overboard, but while still standing out in a crowd, and primarily for handling and curvy road fun. I've immersed myself into the world of automotive photography as well so there will be plenty of pictures in here. Any updates will probably be added to the original post.

The majority of my updates and pictures go on my Instagram if you'd like to follow: @obviouslytyler

What are your thoughts on the kicker speakers/tweeters without a headunit/amp upgrade?

To me, they're just okay and they're fine for now. They mostly help with clarity in higher volume. Lower volume they're probably perfect.

An amp upgrade would probably wake them up a little bit.

But they're still worlds better than stock with the OEM headunit.

By the way, are 5000k LED low beam bulbs good? Have plans to try... Any night photos?

They're definitely better than the halogen bulbs in my projector headlights.

No night time photos. If I remember I'll try to take a couple.

Wasn't exactly perfect. Came in bent on one side but installing it straightened it out. But I won't argue for like $100.

What bulbs are you using in your fog lights, and how do you like them? Do you have any output shots?

I am annoyed Subaru uses 19w H16s in the fogs. I want to upgrade my stock bulbs with better halogens, but I don't know how any halogen will look good and have decent output at 19w...

They're 3000k LEDs from Subispeed I believe. And I think they're actually H11 bulbs. They're much better than any halogen I've used, but obviously more expensive.

As stated above I'll work on some night time shots for you guys.

Well my Avids were short lived. Picked up a set of Enkei RPF-1s today for a killer deal.

18x9.5 +45 with a set of 245/40-18 Blizzaks. Only paid $850. Already have the tires removed and these will be my primary wheels.

They have a little bit of rash but no bends or anything at all.

Swapped out my Nameless axleback for another Nameless system with 4" mufflers instead of 5", and double wall tips instead of single.

I'll be adding a midpipe that I have soon, whenever they get around to sending me the hardware.

Are the LED low beams much better at night than the stock halogens?

Sorry for the late response. They're definitely better than halogen, but not as good as an HID retrofit or the OEM LED lights from the Limited models and STi.

Default Clean car

I like the clean concept of your WRX. I just started modifying my WRX. I had for 2 years now but never had a chance to start the project. But I am going for the clean concept.

Thank you. Can't go wrong with making it simple but still attention grabbing.

I have a couple small things coming soon.
