Thumbs up Track day at Road Atlanta, 7/13-14

Wow.

This is the most fun thing I have ever done in my life, bar none. Even better than most sex!

I was a total track rookie when I hit the spot yesterday. My best lap time yesterday was approx. 2:09, and today 1:59. Not too bad for a rookie.

I *finally* got to run the stage 2 WRX at its limits and it was truly a beast. One thing to note fellas: you have WAY more braking in your car than you think you do. I didn't have ABS come on all day and I was really standing on the pedal (but this could have something to do with the Pilot Sports).

Bobg, great to put a face with a name at last! Thanks a ton for everything you did and your overall great attitude for helping a rookie out. TomS2K, nice-ta-meet-cha! Get that WRX out on the track!

Last but not least, don't ever be afraid to hook up with the BMWCCA club people here in Atlanta. They were awesome, very well organized, very safe, very helpful and cool.

Just thought I'd share. If you want to see any video, go here:

Sorry for the slow download speed but DSL is only good one way!

Later,

Scott

Was that fun or what?

sdecker and I represented Subaru fairly well over the weekend. It must have hacked off a lot of M3s to be passed by us.

And I have always hated the stock tires, but I didn't realize how bad they really are until I got them on the track.

sdecker, you really improved from day 1 to day 2.

I don't want to work today, I would love to do one more set of laps.

Steve:

Yeah, see if you dig up anything from M3, M coupe or various other owners about getting passed by the silver and blue Subys!

Thanks man,

Scott

Yeah, the bandwidth blows...sorry about that. Panoz Racing School is running a 2 day event on August 10-11 and the BMWCCA is doing another identical deal in September.

You should try to come out, I'll guarantee you'll love it. I did!

did you go with the Panoz school or the BMWCCA, how much was it for the weekend?

I think SpeedTrials is holding one there too, but not positive about that....

I just took the BMW school, but I have the Panoz school paid for in August. BMW will be running another one in September but they have not started accepting applications yet. The BMW schools are 325 for BMWCCA members, 350 for non-members. The Panoz school is 225 for Saturday, 325 for Sunday, or 500 for both.

Go to www.peachtreebmwcca.org and www.panozracingschool.com for more info.

Let me know if you have questions.
