Post The AutoCar pics of the new Impreza...

Retrieved from here -- http://homepage.ntlworld.com/mr.cookie/

First thing I think when I look is "I wonder what kinda POS scanner this guy was using", second thing is "Look! It's actually the same car as yesterday!"

*shrug* The more I look at it the more I like it... I know, scary.

Please tell me you just made those pics with Photoshop!!

Is Subaru out-sourcing their exterior design work to the same place that does it for Hyundai??!!

That car better have at least 250 Hp under the hood!
...the engine is still under the hood though?...is it??

Looks more like a cross between a Solara and a Neon that really wants to be a Mustang. Glad I got mine when I did.... Still it may grow on me I'spose.

It looks like a cross-breed of Kia Rio and Hyundai Coupe (the tail lights). Or maybe that is not the real thing.

So... $27k?

I agree. Screams Neon all the way, front to back. Looks like someone bought a neon and then got the Ultimate Rice Boy catalog and modded it! Glad I got my car now rather than waiting.

It reminds me of those Mitsu Mirage coupes from the back.

From the front, it's like a Benz/Hyundai crossbreed.

I don't care for it...it's not as nice as our 1st gen RSs but it's not a dog, either.

I hate it. But I usually always hate new cars when they come out, only to have them grow on me. I hope they improve it a little though. The first Impreza's were plain looking at best, even the rally cars. Amd now look at them, the RS, STi V5 and V6 are some of the most awesome and distictive looking cars in the world (at their price level!). So hopefully, it might look better in person or improve in the next few years.

it doesn't look aggressive enough.

First of all the red color does it no favors at all in the photos so it gets a little benefit of doubt from me there.

I can't believe they didn't do a new wheel design. The same 16" rims again!! Surely not once the car is in production.

That tail is way too tame for my liking, what's up with the WRC/P1/RB5/STI mental tails we've become used to? Hopefully this is not the only tail available.

I would buy one - but for no more than maybe $24K - depends what else they throw in - I notice there's no sunroof.

With 17" rims, in Rally Blue and a bigger tail - that's a sweet car.

(and with 280HP, a 0-60 in 5.0s for $24K I'm there!)

Unhappy

One thing I do not get is the lack of vents on the hood. That is the only reason why I hesitate to believe the pics. Why no vents? I am sorry but this new bodystyle is not growing on me. To have to watch SWRT rally that?

Me nuh like.

there were no vents on any of the spy pics either - they really help the aggressive rally/sporty look.

Perhaps Subaru are trying to clean up the look and make it more subtle than sporty?

I'm sure someone will be happy to make aftermarket vents for you guys (and no doubt a fancy CF hood to mount them in with a more 'aggressive' scoop). We all know that vents and scoops (especially non-functional ones) make it a better car -- nobody ever complained that the current gen RS had too many of those did they?

Greg.

Have a Nice Day?

Heh, what was this "the spy pics/renderings look NOTHING like the real car" business?

The front of the overhead pic looks kinda cool. I dig the front fenders. Where are the bulging rear fenders, though???

The wing sucks, but can be remedied. Not so sure about the head/taillights. Just doesn't look distinctive anymore. Well, I guess time will tell.

Sorry man...This car is straight up Hyundai with a "slight" woman driving (no offense) attitude. This damn car will never, and I emphasize NEVER grow on me. Seeing my turbo in MY00RS soon......

I dunno... I kinda like it.... I need to see at least some official pics from Subaru, and preferably one in the flesh before I pass judgment. The wheels don't even have center caps!

Question

I bet I'll like it when I see it in person. And why isn't anyone suggesting that this isn't really how it will look like y'all usually do? That said for some reason I do think this will be the new design.

SPECIALIST!!! Whoooo Hoooo!!!

To all you old farts who own an RS now, this is your revenge on all of us weenies who couldn't commit and waited for the new Impreza. The old RS is a much better looking car.

Who wants to buy a $25K Turbo sports sedan that looks like a Neon econobox? Subaru blew it if this is it. What is with Japanese designers? It won't sell and they will probably have to recall the body style after a year. Anybody with a RS for sale?

I've seen worse. Assuming that's the car that comes to the US, I'd like to testdrive one but sure wouldn't be in an overly big rush to sell my 99RS to get one.
