These are UniDirectional tires..Do I have to replace all four or Can I replace just one? Help!!!!
Okay, based on my experience, in an earlier car, one of the tires had developed a blister after I hit a median at a pretty fast clip. Since I had not taken any "Road Hazard Insurance" for my tires, I had to pay for its replacement. Since there were very few miles on the tire (6k), I replaced just the one that developed the blister. With "Road Hazard" insurance, they would have replaced the tire with no additional charge to me.
With an AWD car, I would be more careful about replacing just one of the tires. There was an issue a while back in the UK, when 2 tires of the same type on the same car caused issues because they were manufactured at 2 different plants, with slightly different quantity of the compounds used, that resulted in a slightly different level of grip among the tires.
If you have worn the tires quite a bit, then yes, I would ask you to replace all 4 of them, since otherwise the differentials would heat up quite a bit trying to compensate for the differences in the overall diameters of the worn/new tires.
