motor mount help
well I have read every post about changing motor mounts. I am changing the mounts on 05 sti. I am trying to put group N mount in now. After one full day and buying every possible type of 14 mm wrench, I finally got the left side off. Now I have spent half of today just trying to get the left rear bolt back in? I haven't even tried the driver side yet. All the post here tell you how to get the bolts out. But how do you get the bolts started back in? I have the pitch stop out and the motor jacked up as far as possible. Anyone living in the Glenfalls, NY area want some money and has done a mount swap before, PM me. I will pay to have these changed, but the car is not drivable. Chad

Never mind, I got them. I have been trying to do it the way everyone said. Going at it from the rear of the motor. I have my complete exhaust out, so I could get to them right from the front of the motor, super easy. I just needed to go from a different direction. Now onto replacing my oil pick-up.

Pics? You might have to put the rear in with the motor jacked up and off the crossmember..

Here's a quick DIY guide I used when doing my mounts: http://www.iwsti.com/forums/how-inst...ne-mounts.html. They are a pain to install but well worth it in the end!

Jack the motor up as high as you can get it. WATCH the lower radiator hose, at about 2.5" inches of lift you will start to tension it. Loosen the two bolts for the trans mount, remove either the forward or rear bolt from the pitch stop, and then obviously the motor mount bolts and lifting the engine will be much easier.
