Dyno results on the rallisoprts show gains. Small as they may be, but no loss.

For UEL headers? I've heard a loss in low end torque.

I have a few friends who are regulars. They didn't really push me into doing it. It was actually the Ford Focus ST Challenge that got me. I was able to sign up for free and drive the **** out of a new Focus ST. I decided that it was really fun so I went and tried it with my car. I had a blast and I've kept going back.

My first time was very confusing. I arrived late and didn't know what to expect. But overall the day went very smoothly.

There really is no need to train or prep. If your car is in good running condition and you know how to drive it, that's all you need. Just show up and have fun.

Across the board gains. And from my personal experience, mated with a high flow CBE, feels like more gains than the minuscule dyno results show.

Hey guys another quick question. I just put new wheels on my car considering I couldn't stand the hubcaps. But now my tire light keeps blinking and than stays on. Is there any way I can reset the light? Or could it mean the tps are bad? I took my 16s off and put the wrx 17s on it

Do the wheels you put on have the correct TPS?

And if so, were they connected to the TPS system?

They are expensive. I bought them as you said, purely as a sound mod. I was just happy about not losing anything.

I bought them used. They are the ones that come with the wrx wheels. I don't know much abut them.

You will have to go and get them programmed to your car's tpms system. They each operate on their own frequencies to keep from picking up other vehicle's reading on the road. Just go into a shop and ask about syncing them together. It will most likely cost you.

Sensors are kind of expensive. Are you sure that the new wheels have sensors?

IMO, it's easiest to just move the sensors from the old wheels to the new wheels.

If you haven't already, the 17's are synced to the original owner's car. You just need to go to a place and have it synced to yours. Minimal cost.

Speaking of stockers, someone should buy mine: *coughcough*

Hi all,

Stumbled on this forum while researching a 2008 Impreza 2.5i 5-dr I bought last week to replace a 2002 Impreza OBS 5-dr--learning a lot reading! Loving the newer car, which is a manual (last one was automatic). It's super fun to drive.

However, I'm surprised at how loud the engine is in the lower gears. I've never driven a Subaru manual, so I thought I'd post here. The last vehicle I had that was a manual was about 15 years ago, but with that truck (a Dodge Ram, light pickup actually manufactured by Mitsubishi at the time, I believe) I'd shift at 3000 rpms and it'd always settle back down to 2000 rpms, where it sounded smooth and quiet. The 2008 Subie OTOH doesn't quiet down and sound happy until 4th gear--in 4th and on the highway in 5th it sounds beautiful, whether at 2000 or 3000 rpms. It accelerates fast, but it's like I want to shift at 2000 rpms in 1st, 2d, and 3rd gears just so it doesn't sound like it's working so hard.

Is this normal? Is it the boxer engine/standard Subie sound? Some people have mentioned short gearing on this model, or that it revs high, which I'm not sure is what I'm experiencing. In MA I've got a 60-day lemon law, and I've got an appointment next week to get it checked it out ... so if there's some transmission issue now would be the time to figure it out. I'm also getting 21 mpg city/hwy after about 100 miles (45900 on the car), which seems odd when others are reporting better than advertised on the 2008, even 28-32 mpg.

Love my Subaru but don't know much about the manual transmissions on them. Thanks in advance.

EDIT: I know this may be a dumb question! But of course the dealer is just going to tell me that's just the way it sounds ... so just looking for opinions on the manual, and the 2008.

You might have a hole in your exhaust somewhere. I have 32,000 miles or so, and it is so quiet with stock exhaust that if I have my radio up just a little I can barely hear the engine, or feel it.

Are you sure you have stock exhaust? Maybe someone replaced the stock one and left out the resonator or something.

I have a you tube vid that you can listen to a stock sounding car in.. The low end bass is louder in the vid if you have youtube hooked up to PC with a home theater attached with a big subwoofer.. but it's pretty accurate.

Same vid with higher bit rate sound.

At the beginning of vid and going up the hill (after right turn), I was revving out to about 5k RPM or so.. And in the vid my car probably had less than 5,000 miles, not 32,000 miles. Is a little louder now probably, but not much.

Interesting. Thanks for the example. Your 5K sounds like my 3K--it really sounds pretty labored, which is why my instinct is saying "shift!"

Carfax doesn't report anything except standard maintenance ... it would report a change like that, unless it got done outside the dealership, right? Two/three owners total, and the last one only had it for 10 months; person before that kept it for 11 months, probably after buying out their three-year lease. While that isn't super reassuring ... I was *hoping someone decided they just didn't like manual (or something trivial).

I'll def. ask them to look at the exhaust. Would that cause the low-end fuel economy, just so I understand?

Any other ideas for what could be happening, or seconds on the exhaust possibility, would be appreciated. I find it can be helpful to go into the dealer with a few ideas ... thanks!
