Default 2012 Impreza Wheel Fitment

Hello all,

My 2012 Impreza 2.0i Sport Limited will be arriving soon in SWP. However, I hate the look of the dark wheels on SWP, so I'm planning on swapping them out for some 17" or 18" wheels in silver.

I know the stock wheels are 17x7, 5x100. I'm unaware of the offset however. +48 or 52 maybe?

I was wondering what size wheels and what offsets will fit this car w/out rubbing? I'm planning on doing about a 1" drop, nothing too low as this is my dd.

I also figured this would be a good resource for all of the other 2012 Impreza owners out there. It's still winter where most people are, but come spring I'm sure a lot more people will look for aftermarket wheels!

Thanks for the help!

most information I came across indicates the 2012 is +48 across all factory rim sizes (from 15" steel up to 17" alloy)
I test fit a friend's 2002 WRX factory 16" alloy (+53 or 55, I forget) on my 2012 5 door base, and did not observe any issues.

www.cars101.com has all the information but no mention of offsets.

My guess is rims from other subarus will fit. I am trying to decide between either my 04 BBS rims or my 18in OZ rims, both fit my 04 STi and I'm assuming will fit my new impreza. I had the BBSs on my 01 and that came stock with 14in steelies. Many years of subarus share offsets, just don't get any sti wheels 05+.

So has it been confirmed that the 2012 imprezas have the same bolt patterns as previous imprezas/wrx?

I'm new to tire/rim upgrades and have the Impreza Sport 2012. I got a 1" lift from paranoid to get a little more clearance so I can also up size the tires. It came with 205/50 R17 tires and these rims.
17x7"
Offset: 48
Bolt pattern: 5x100
Weight: approx 21lbs

Since I have a little room from the lift I'd like to upgrade from 205 to 215 tires but for rims get something lighter and smaller like this size to reduce the rotational mass.
16x7
Offset: 40
Bolt pattern: 5x100
Weight: approx 15.8 lbs
I'd love to shed approximately 36lbs of rotational mass and think that will increase my MPG right? Will changing the rim size from 17's to 16's work or would it cause problems with my car? Don't want any rubbing or other issues with the transmission or ??.

Any suggestions from the Subaru rim experts in this forum would be much appreciated because I'm pretty green with the whole rim upgrade thing.

Thanks!

I'm looking at some 18" rotas but not sure what width/offsets will work, especially when lowered an inch or so

The 16s will fit since the base car comes with 15s, you will probably want a 215/60/16 (which is a little taller than stock) to go with the lift. The weight savings should get you a little more go, but I doubt you will notice any change in fuel economy. If you're worried about rubbing, get wheels with 48 offset to be sure, but I doubt there will be any rub with a 215 tire on 40 offset, especially since you're lifted. Post some pics when you get the chance!

Are the stock 2012 impreza premium rims 17x7s? Or just the sport 17s? Or is there a way I can measure myself with the tires still on?

According to my brochure the premium comes with 16x6.5 wheels and the alloy wheel package is 17x7. Sports are also listed at 17x7.

Thanks Man! This helps a lot. So just to confirm a 40mm offset will put the tires further inside than a 48mm offset? If so I'll look for a 48mm or more offset because the tires/rims are a little inside as it is. I also like the idea of taller tires to get a little more clearance. I didn't realize how much I loved the 8.4 inches of clearance on my old outback so anything to get it close will be awesome. Probably should of waited for the XV sport but hind sight is always 20/20. When I do this I'll post the before and after pics but it might be a little while.

40 offset puts the wheel further outward than 48, so if you want the wheel/tire pushed out a little then 40 is the ticket

I'm looking at 18x8.5 +45, somewhere in that range? Would that fit if the sport was lowered an inch or so?

Default 18x8.5 44 offset on 2012 impreza sport

Bought the car last night and had these mounted today. Fits perfect. No suspension mods or fender rolling. Changes the look a ton IMO.

Looks Great! Way better than the stock grey rims for your color.
