2018 WRX: off. I hate the stupid light less than I hate the drag trying to start from a flat stop light. Maybe if it stayed on longer to help build boost? lol

16 WRX stays on. It only comes on when I need it to. I especially like having it when I have to parallel park in a tight spot on a slight hill. So handy knowing I can get pretty close to the car behind and not roll into it.

2017 WRX: Off. I found it to be too intrusive.

Can you or a mod make this into an actual poll?

The OP bailed on this poll the day after he made it due to boredom

Do you really want to see these riveting results in a more formal poll format?

Nah. If it had the ability to be a multi-question poll and tabulate those results by MY (and subdivided over the whole by STI and WRX), it'd be interesting.

But if not, then not worth it.

idk what's everyone obsession about putting it on/off. It did literally nothing to the drivability of the car.

Just learn to feather the clutch a bit, and you'll be fine taking off.

It's almost as if drivers are too lazy to learn the system.

There is a way to have it turned on and not engaged. Just don't keep your car in gear when stopped, have it in neutral and clutch out.

Lol what? Obviously it's not going to engage when you're in neutral, you won't get far (forward at least) either. We all know how hill assist works, some of us just find it intrusive.

Why did you chose to turn it back on?

Taught my wife how to drive a standard (again) about a year ago. Big stressor for new drivers is starting on a hill. I had to figure out how to not outdrive the assist myself and once I learned where in the clutch release stroke it disengaged I just left it on. Now that I donít have small hills like I had in Pittsburgh and live smack in the middle of the Smokys I like it even more. The switch is on the clutch pedal and disengages at the exact same point every time. I never outdrive it anymore which was my only issue before.

So why turn it off then? I just pointed out how to not make it intrusive. Plus you don't have that dinky light on in your dash telling you it's off.

Squattro, are you saying if I come to a stop, on an incline, in neutral, it won't engage after I place it into 1st eventually?
I'm assuming after a few seconds it would.

There is this one stop for me everyday uphill incline, a right hand turn onto the highway, waiting for traffic, and the cars in front of me can't decide if they are going for it or not.

2017 WRX. on and off, depends what I'm more annoyed with at that moment.

I am not sure what is more annoying, the light on while off, or just being turned on. I refer to it as hell assist. For me, it stays engaged much too long and makes the car jerky. If I could turn it off and not have that ridiculous light on the dash I would.

Sure, we can make it really interesting by making this into a multi-question poll. Perhaps we should start with model year, age, location, marital status, sex, gender, religion, race, ethnicity, sexual preference, preferred political alliance, favorite sport, shoe size, and if you like walks on the beach or slow dance in the rain. This is just a simple yes or no poll, no need to convoluted it further with a bunch of ancillaries.

Not sure how you define drivability, but to me, drivability also include how well the car deal with gridlock situation and initial take off in 1st gear, therefore, hill hold feature absolutely has an impact on drivability.

And as soon as the clutch is pressed, the system kicks in then you are back to square one. Of course any one can learn how to drive with the system, just like any one can learn how to drive a manual without synchronized gears and column mounted gear lever. This is just to see how many here prefers to have it on vs. off. No need to over think it.

Exactly.

For some reason, there are those that just automatically assumes this has something to do with one's ability to drive a manual. This is about choices, nothing more and nothing less.

On my 17 WRX and 18 RA: on
As long as you don't have brake and clutch pedal pressed at the same time it won't trigger. I just let go of the brakes and only then press the clutch and the car will roll back no problem.
