lost power after 2.5 swap to a 2.0,please help!

a few months back i did a engine swap on my 02 impreza the motor blew after moving states and i only had three months till i was moving again and i was looking at either rebuilding the motor or swapping. i went with swapping and this is my first subaru, the guy i was buying the motor from said that it would be better too just use the 2.0, he said it had less oil leaking issues. so i did the research and the swap was easy enough. got the new motor started and when i backed it out of the shop it took a few seconds to engage and start moving and i thought that i just didnt fill it with enough fluid or that i had a bubble in the line so i let it run for a while to see if it change at all and when i would try to drive it i got little to no power, it would start to rev up and the move but only to about 10 mph and none at all on the smallest incline, is this a tranmission issue or did i mess up the swap to begin will.

So the engine starts and runs like your old one did?
Really sounds like a slipping clutch, the engine revs but the slipping clutch won't transmit power.

if you put a 2.0l turbo block into a 2.5i impreza you will loose major power. the engine is designed to have some boost in it.

Is this an manual or auto car?

Was this a JDM NA 2.0 engine?

Good point, if it's an AT, could be low on trans fluid. OP did bolt the torque converter to the flexplate, correct?
