Default Prescott Forest ProRally

well, with all the WRC excitement going on this weekend, i decided to leave my post at rally-live and check out the ProRally results after day one. lots and lots of retirements. Luckily, Lovel is still in it and at the top spot to boot. Schible, who is running Open Class now to get more points for subaru since he has already clinched Group N, is gone. so is Lageman. luckily, Burke, Millen, and Chionre are all out as well, so hopefully Lovel can coast to victory

Nat and Jamie are out too, looks like they only completed stage1, damn shame.

The info on the rally web site doesn't say why though.

Jamie called me this morning and told me what happened. On stage 2 (or three, I forget) they hit a tree going around a corner. She said that the pace notes were wrong. Thenoted indicated a "single caution 70" turn but she said that it should have been a "triple caution 90". They went in too hot and nailed a tree. The A-pillar and suspension are toast and the car is really rough she said.

She said that they were all right but she was pretty sore.

Here is probably one of the only photo's of nat and Jamie in action. They were moving pretty fast and there was a lot of dust in the air from the previous cars so it's as good as I could. Not to mention it was probably 10:00pm

This is the only shot of Lovell I have. The first is how it turned out and the second is as good as I could get it playing around with all kinds of fun stuff

Thanks for the info Eric. Glad Jamie and Nat are OK in the main.

Hitting trees tends to stop you real fast so they are going to ache a little for sure.

Have a safe journey home Jamie if you read this, all part of the sport as you know. You were fastest PGT stage 1 from the info i gathered which is something positive.

I forgot to add that Jamie said they had an incar camera set-up so it should be some good footage (of the rally and the unfortunate crash)

Most of the cameras I've seen don't do so hot at night. If they had one that works well in the dark, I'd be interested to learn what it was.

My condolonces to Nat on the demise of his beautiful car. I'm glad he & S. Gal are mostly unharmed.

hmmmmmmm trees at about 50+ is not fun. I had the opportunity to fly into the woods at WildWest in Mark Durley's Ford Focus.

Collar bones were a little tender for a week. Thank god for Willans Harnesses!

Lovell wins!!!! in doing so he clinched the Drivers Championship and all but clinched the manufacturers championship for Subaru. at least something good came out of this weekend that, and an STi took second in the Austrailian Touring Car race.

Absolutely fantastic to hear!!!! Congrats to Lovell and the entire SRTUSA. I could not be happier.

And I know the " what did you expect, of course they were going to win" comments are coming(not only here either), but I could care less. They drive Subarus that I(and other Impreza owners) could relate to, and when the commercials and ads come out, the WRX will be in the spot light, showing non-rally enthusiasts in this country that Subarus truly do kick ass!

Conrats again!!!!!!

Thumbs up

I could babble for miles about how omnipresent Subaru was at the Prescott (pronounced "presskit") Forest Rally. As far as I'm concerned, the Scooby invasion is complete. From the number of competitors and spectators driving Subarus (plus those of us who left our Scoobies at home in far away places and flew down) to the interest level in Rallying in general, it was like Scoobies were the topic of every conversation.

Seeing the Subarus blasting by made me so psyched on the marque. Everyone has noticed the WRX invasion. At the rate folks are jumping on the bandwagon, in a year I suspect Subaru could probably even support a privateer WRX class all their own

Good job to everyone at Subaru, and all the board members who participated as drivers/navvies, support or cheering section! Jamie, glad you and Nat = ok.

Here are some snaps of the phatty rally-car at Parc Expose.

More to follow, just got back from Prescott....

Cheers

Angus

This isn't too bad for deep in the woods with only two of the driving lights actuallt working...

Which camera is that, Jon? I've got a RaceCam from Northeast Microelectronics, and it starts to get fuzzy when I hit the forest at dusk (before you even need to turn the lights on!). It's got a very steady picture and it's great in the bright, but I'd like something that will at least give me something during the night stages. Lots of interesting things, uh, "happen" in the dark (at least to me)!

Wink hey i'm home... ouch!!!!

hey all..
thanks for the well wishes - we are ok.. car is um... well it needs some work...

i am exhausted... and feel awful for Nat and his REX but... i feel comfort in the knowledge that 5 OTHER cars went off where we went off... it was a horrible note in the route book... if you have 5-6 cars going off in the same spot, then there is an issue eh??

oh well.. as long as the car can be sorted... and my neck heals all's well i suppose... we were running 1st in PGT and 7th overall on stage 3 when this happened... really stinks!!! but what can you do???

i have loads of pics - they'll be up later today....

and Congrats Lovell and Subaru!! way to go!!

j.

I think the description of stage 2/3 as "nasty" was an understatement. I drove it during the day 2 weeks earlier on street tires. YIKES!
I worked road block both days, and when I get my pictures back I'll post some of them.

tedious at times but great fun,
geren

Ouch! At least Nat managed to keep the damage on the correct side of the car...

It sounds as if you were lucky you didn't get smacked by someone else doing the same thing (I think I'll carry more than 3 triangles next time so I can strew them out for 1/4 mile!).

What does this mean as far as LSPR is concerned?

----

Thanks for the camera info John, I'll go take a peek at the specs.
