Default My 6 month old 2012 SWP WRX in accident and was repainted..

Welp sad to say my 6 month old 12' swp wrx hatch was in an accident and messed up the whole drivers side....it was fixed and repainted....it looked fine at the moment but the paint is much whiter then the factory paint. The factory paint has a more tanner/yellow tone but where the new paint is its much whiter. The new paint is only on the fender, doors, and quarter panel so where it meets the bumpers and side skirt meet u can see the difference big time like white to tan! And its an eye sore...now i asked the paint shop that has an exceptional rating and they said that it will "dirty up" or yelloww/tan/fade but i look at it and i doubt it will match in a few months....if it doesnt im bringing it back or wraping it all matte white...

I don't think that they're lying to you. I bought an OEM front lip in SWP and it is whiter than the rest of my car. I'm waiting for it to "dirty up" too.

Did the body shop blend the paint into the areas that were not replaced? Swp is a hard paint to match but if blended well it would be hardly noticeable. Anyways sorry to hear about it, accidents always suck.

Body shop definitely did not blend. That looks terrible. I would have them redo it. SWP is difficult to match because it's like a 3-stage paint. I believe there's a black coat underneath and then the white on top.

The bumpers will be a slight pitch off because of spraying polyurethane vs metal.

They deff. fubared your paint though. They need to respray.

Yea i no the difference between the poly vs metal but that is just way to white it seems like they didnt blend it right or match but he said give it a few months by spring it will match. If it dont do wat they say imma be bringin it back demanding a respray closest to my existing its just to way off for it to dirty that much it seems impossible

That must be brutally obvious in the daytime. But I agree thats a lot of "dirtying" to match. When I got my trunk lid resprayed on my legacy the only way you would notice is If i told you than after about 3 months it finally matched up enough to where I stopped noticing the difference.

i vote respray... thats too drastic of a mismatch to fade in the way you want it to. Plus your factory coat will keep fading too (although not nearly as much as new paint), so it really truely needs to be close right from the get-go. nice car

Yeah, I would not be happy with that. They didn't even try to blend, you could have done that with a rattle can in your garage.

honestly its so different..they prolly just used the wrong paint code, like the aspen white from 07 rather than satin white..that's what it looks like
