Default WTB: 1998 or 1999 Legacy L or Legacy GT manual transmission

Just as the title says... I;m looking for a spare manual transmission for my legacy. It doesn't have to be from a GT, but a GT is preferred. It has to be from a 1998 or 1999... Preferably a 1999. PM or Reply with offers.

What are the differences in the year? I'm a little lost as to why you prefer one from the other, aren't they the same tranny?

Well, as far as I know, some of the 1998's used the old transmission... the 1999's went to a new case design (the same design of the WRX's)... I really only want the gearset and the front diff... You can swap gearsets between the WRX case and the Legacy case, as long as the case design is the same... From 1990-1998 they used the older design... When they switched to the phase two engine, they went to a little bit different design on the case... The transfer case doesn't have the access plate anymore, and the reverse setup is moved 3mm to one direction... I;'ve already tried to use a newer gearset in an older case, and it didn't work... Basically I'm just looking for a 1999+ Legacy transmission...

Anyways, the reason I need a spare transmission is because I just broke 2nd gear last monday. I am replacing the input shaft, bearings, and the other half of 2nd gear... but I am going to try it RWD for a while too... and I plan on breaking another gear at some point... I don't want to have to wait for more gear parts from the dealer, so I'm looking for a spare tranny.
