Both will cost you $$. You may need to Jailbreak and install some tweaks to get Ebay bluetooth adapters to work, or just use a wifi adapter instead.

Test drove a black ST3 after lunch.

Seats are great. Ride is great. Handling is great. Very quiet and comfortable car.

Steering feel is meh. Brake feel is meh. Throttle response is meh. Power was surprisingly meh.

Interior space is horrible. My head was against the roof in the rear and while I could sit behind myself, there was zero legroom left. My MCS feels more roomy than this.

Salesman was a really cool guy, though. He let me tear up one of my favorite back roads.

I could totally see myself daily driving one and being perfectly satisfied with the purchase.. but as a hot hatch, I found it to be a little tepid.

surprised you didn't like the steering. 1.8 turns lock to lock, its the quickest steering car I've ever driven by far. That is supposed to be one of the performance advantages to the car at the expense of a terrible turn radius.

Steering feel. The response just off-center is great.. and the steering ratio is fine. The feel just isn't really there. It loaded up OK while hitting the turns, but it felt as numb as my old STI (which is meh).

I think it's better than the GD series STi steering but whatever.

You're right.. it probably is better than that. Maybe it's just the lack of torque steer that felt very strange..

I absolutely love the steering feel. I'm sure there are better cars out there but overall I think the package Ford put together is a real drivers car. Perfect, no, but vey enjoyable to drive. Even down to that freaking sound induction tube noise.

BTW the brakes at low speed are pretty grabby. Too me awhile to get used to, if I have.

Try going from a 1997 Pontiac Bonneville that has seen next to no maintenance to a 2012 MS3. I nearly got into accidents because the brakes were so much better...not to mention how responsive the steering was. But the Bonneville was a hell of a lot easier to park

I saw this on Focaljet. Can you guys possibly comment on how it compares to Torque?

Also, not sure if its been mentioned or not but, Rally Sport Direct mentioned Hawk has a replacement pad for the rear(I guess it's unchanged from the regularly Focus).

Stoptech doesn't have Street Performance pads? Those things are ****ing phenominal, best street pad I've used, zero bad about them.

Not yet. Hawk does have rear pads but that's it so far.

Well, when they come out I'd jump. They are cheap, silent, and seriously improve braking. Not track-worthy, but perfect for street/canyon use.

Like I said.. I could see myself being very satisfied commuting and daily driving such a car. The refinement is nice, but it dulls the driving experience. Since my own commute is about 2mi, I'm looking for something that begs to be driven for fun on the weekends.. the ST is not that kind of car, IMO.

My inability to heel-toe (the brake and throttle relationship is terribad... typical Ford.. like my old Escort which required some pretty serious pedal adjustments and covers to be usable) and possibly my tainted perception of feedback from driving a MCS on very stiff oilcovers didn't give me a 'drivers car' impression at all.

The sound tube does sound very nice.

I actually thought the brakes were very smooth on engagement. The Hawk pads on my Mazda5 are very grabby with little pedal pressure. I wish my '5 had the ST's suspension tuning and engine. It's too bad the C-Max is so damn small or I'd be begging Ford for a C-Max ST.

The ST you drove didn't feel fast and had smooth brakes?? You sure it was actually an ST??

The brakes are very snappy in the ST, enough so that my instinct is that the car is going to lock up with very little pedal travel. In 3300 miles I am not 100% used to it yet.

Calamity-- is it possible the car you drove had piss water in it? The ST gains like 10hp with premium.

Like most turbo 4's it falls off hard in the upper RPM's, otherwise its lack of lag gives you a pretty good sense of instant gratification IMO. I'm thinking about putting a tune on the car but I'm still waiting to see how some of these pan out.

The ST has one of the shortest 1st gears I've ever driven-- when you get on it 6500 comes up damn fast..

What kind of range are you ST owners seeing? A10 gallon tank is pretty weak!

Like 280-300

297 is the best I ever saw. My Mini Cooper had a bigger tank.

I don't know what fuel the factory fills them with but, when I drove the first one we got here back in December I didn't think it felt fast at all either. Come to think of it, the sales guy filled mine with 87 before I took it and mine felt a lot faster than the first one I drove. Maybe some need to be driven more until they wake up.

I got 260 or so on my first tank but I'm not driving it very conservatively. A recent thread on one forum showed a few people hitting 320 and even one around 350.

I can heel-toe the BOSS all day long which are the same pedals as " premium GT" pedals. Some bean counter decided fixing the pedal relationship on the ST would cost too much.

I am really interested in how this is possible-- I can't get near that and I am trying my hardest to shift at like 2k rpms when cruising.

Drive slower and use cruise control. Set it at 55 and watch the MPG rise.

Stop and go / faster speeds eat fuel.
