Default 2006 Impreza: Up Close And Personal (56K Warning)

The new Impreza was officially launched in Japan
over the weekend, so today I took a stroll to the local
Subaru offices to check it out. These pics were taken
at the Shinjuku offices. Enjoy!

I took this pic from the brochure. Looks like the base model
1.5i will have the 'bug-eyes'-era taillights

Picked up some useless JDM goodness too!

Welcome to Japan man, where the English language is abused like a redheaded stepchild.

Neither. It's just a satellite office.

It realy is a great source of comedy, that even "The Simpsons" utilizes on a regular basis. Do english people attempting to speak japanese sound just as crazy, when the situation is vice versa?

It all depends on the person trying to speak. It depends on their
level of knowledge of the Japanese language. English-speaking people
trying to learn Japanese tend to use English grammar. Japanese and English
grammar are polar opposites. That's why "Engrish" is so funny. So yeah,
sometimes it sounds funny when I hear yanks, aussies or brits trying
to speak Japanese...especially with a heavy accent.

I can get away with being Japanese because I am Asian, and I speak Japanese with a Japanese accent..the only problem is, I'm not 100% fluent.
The only times it helps is when I want to go to a 'Japanese-only' bar
where foreigners aren't allowed.

Silly question but why do JDM badges use english instead of chracters?

I'm not a fan of the rear emblem looks too ford-ish if you ask me.

To Japanese people, 'Japanese' isn't cool. Also, they want to keep
the names culturally universal.

Wow. Too bad Subaru has decided to use their ugly mini-van as the new design language for their product line.

Plus, the headlights change the proportions of the car for the worse, making the rest of the car look bloated and/or flabby. The edginess/aggression of the current '04 are lost.

Of course, the new 2.5L turbo in the WRX will be a nice change. Too bad the car ends up looking like a Mazda3...which is a nice car, but Subarus are purchased for their distinctive engineering and appearance, not their unobtrusive design style.
