I too have been wondering about the CVT fluid change. It would definitely help smooth things out. Especially if it was flushed. I am not sure how much grinding of metal goes on in the CVT, but there is bound to be some tired fluid in there. New fluid would just make it better. The question is what is the weight difference between the Subaru and aftermarket fluid? Also how much did the dealership charge you to change the CVT fluid? I am looking to get mine done too for my 24k I drive the crap out of my CVT with high engine revs and pretty hard manual pulls.

Default 2012 Impreza thread

New Denso vs factory Denso O2s. Main difference is OEM are made in japan, new are assembled in USA. Originals have almost 150k on them. This morning saw 29mpg at 19F and 75mph, 3 days ago that was 23mpg, we will see if that keeps up over next few tanks

Look straight down the front of the engine and you will see Green one(afr sensor), yellow one is about 10" to the left right after the cat.

Anyone know what a normal idle and cruise temp are on the AFR sensor? Seeing 550F at idle at 1350F cruising at 3200rpm. Doesn't seem completely unrealistic but also seems a bit hot, then again controlled explosion and fire only a few feet prior

Those mpg numbers seem where they should be, good to know that made such a big difference

there is quite a lot of soot buildup on them. going to be replacing the sensors in my excursion tonight as well, they are also probably factory with 178k on them, curious to see how they compare. 56.00 for the pair (only pre cat o2's on the Ex due to weight and emission exceptions) vs 166.00 for the Subaru

Wonder if its worth it for me to check mine, at least the easiest one to check. About 92k miles now. Have had some weird sort of uneven acceleration as of late, hard to explain. Basically when accelerating it feels like it pulses a little bit. Thought it was the TH tune, but same thing happened on the stock tune as well.

they are equally easy. you will need to removed the lower shield and work on it from underneath anyway because i couldn't unplug them from the top side.

the ECM is supposed to use both for fuel adjustments, the rear o2 primary functionthough is catalyst efficiency. which is why i replaced both.

22mm wrench or o2 socket required, something like this is what I prefer

Hoping 11 to 13 pure highway it gets 14ish currently at 75. Mine isn't geared for cruising it is geared for towing, 4.30 gears

8 to 10 doesn't seem like much but that is s 25% increase!

A good move. The downstream sensor is used to trim the 14.7:1 point of the AFR sensor within a narrow range. It takes some time for the trim values to settle.

If the AFR voltage drifts a few percent from the expected value at the O2's 14.7:1, you'll get a CEL. At this point, the ECU isn't sure which sensor is bad, just that the "sub-feedback" values are off and the two sensors don't agree. Changing just one sensor is false economy.

Seeing 27.5mpg tonight under similar wind conditions (7mph tailwind) temp of +3F and 75mph

Still lower than when new, but not used to 87 octane tune, and only 60 miles on tune and new o2s. Will see what further tanks and hopefully warmer temps yield

Stock calipers and rotors, painted red. Ceramic pads. Nothing special.

I was actually looking at these last night because I saw a STi hatchback with them on. Are these just the vinyl(s) or did you actually paint them?
Because I’m thinking of doing this but then again I have a dark gray hatchback ***129300;

Didnt add anything to the rear tails. I replaced the lower bumper lights with smoked LEDs, but nothing to the actual taillights.

Been playing with ActiveOBD, would be pretty cool with a CVT since the 5MT doesnt have any of the trans temp or center diff sensors...

Wish i could find all the pid's to add to to my tactrix logging like oil temp (which looksto run 1-2F below coolant) and VVT stuff

edit: found some that might work here. still no oil temp though or oil pressure, but not sure if these are possible or how activeOBD is reading or interpreting this information

anyone else with Active OBD? curious as to how hot 0w-20 gets vs my current 0w-40

cruising at 75mph, coolant pretty much equals oil temp.

some WOT shifts from 55-100 and I got the oil up to 215F, when coolant only rose from 190-194F. outside temp was 27F

You just reminded me I need to set mine up again. I've had to reset my phone a couple of times and lost all my app data.

IIRC, my readings are about the same as yours on 0w20. Don't recall ever seeing oil temps shoot higher than 220, but I'm just guesstimating.

Ow-40 at temp is about 48% thicker at temp than the 0w20 I was using (13 vs 8.8) but not sure how much difference that really makes, should help a bit but maybe only with oil breakdown protection
