Looks like the pill isn't in the boost line connected to the compressor. Without the pill it'll boost around 7psi when it should boost ~13psi.

This picture is in regards to having an aftermarket boost controller but you probably are using stock boost control so you need the pill. Where that arrow is pointing there should be a little pill inside the hose to bleed air through:

I don't know how or where to obtain that pill but you could probably order one from a dealer or online. Search around for the part number.

There is a pill in the line, the little lump in the hose correct?

just like someone who commented on the video, do you feel the car doing what the gauge is saying? could be a bad gauge.

what are your mods?

edit: read the other post.

for whatever reason the engine seems to be overboosting and the ecu is correcting it. find out why its overboosting.

My car is doing the same thing. I am running Cobb stg 2, bosal downpipe, sti uppipe, sri, stock bpv. I did a vacuum leak test and everything was tight. Recently, the car will randomly only make ~7 lbs of boost in any gear, but other times it boosts to ~17psi. Do we have any parts in common? I have ~123k miles on the car.

Thought that stretch of freeway looked familiar. My car used to do the same thing, some mechanics figured it was most likely a problem with the ecu itself, but fixed it easy just by putting a manual boost controller on

i have had the problem and fixed it, there are three causes, 1 if Turbo dynamics, 2 is wastegate duty cycle is to high, 3 is you are hitting the surge line of the turbo, all of which are really bad for the turbo, and can cause major problems if its not corrected, if you have another map try loading that, or messing with yours, i believe there is an article about it on the romraider forums, i dont have time to find the link to it at the moment, i got work. if when i get off tonight yall havent found the problem, i can link to the explanations of each

Default Tell you why

Hello,

looks like your overboosting and its opening the wastegate to comepensate.

First off fiqure what your max boost under max load should be for your givin mods, i.e. 13.8 psi @ 4500 rpm in say fourth gear, if you are going above the max boost your ecu will tell the boost controller to open and close the wastegate. This happens pretty quickly, the boost will drop then rise again, drop, rise again and so on. Looks like you need to loosen up the wastegate arm a couple of turns so you do not overboost. I had this same issue using cobbs OTS maps stage2 and thats what helped me. When I remapped using open source I had to once again dial my wastegate to compensate overboost, works perfectly and rock steady. Stage 2 tdo4 18 PSI @4000~5500 RPM tapering off to redline. Good luck

Just looking at the pic, curious...what's going on with your inlet hose? Is there no clamp on that and is the re-circ hose "glued" in...?

I just adjusted the wastegate 1 full turn and it seems better, as soon as it cools off I'm going to do another half turn.

I think most would recommend resetting your ECU after doing this.

Had same problem. People telling me i had hoses loose. I check re check and again. bought a 120 turbo inlet, nope not it. bought another pill and the vac. hoses to the turbo, nope not it. I would go to 21psi down to 15 back and forth on my tdo4.

And all along it was the factory boost solinoid. I put a homemade mbc on it and problems went away. you sould look into that. just saying .

Thanks for the reply, this is what I originally thought as well and changed this a month ago with no change. If the OP wants to PM me, I have a stock BCS I can send for him to swap to see if it fixes his problem.
