I’ve been saying since day 1 - we need the Z06 trim to really turn heads even more. |

I speculate that Toyota has to play the BMW hierarchy game and the current spec cannot have more power as that would encroach on M sales. It would make sense that a Z4M is in the works and a power bump would also come to the Surpa. |

As for price, are we at the point where 20% is basically nothing when considering cars now? I've always found the car market as extremely price elastic, but maybe ez loan money has changed that? Quote:
I'm sure BMW hierarchy has something to do with it. Can't have a japanese halo car beating out their precious M car like they had to endure all 90s. When will we get back to japanese sports cars being what they were: cheaper, better performing, more reliable, lighter and smaller versions of their competition for less money? I suppose the years of "6 sigma" being a unique competitive advantage is also gone with globalization of car making, so it's probably never returning To that end: BRING ON THE VETTE BABY! 'Murica killin it right now. |

So no noise about the Convertible?
Rumor has it that it has enough rollover protection to run HPDEs |

But this one drops the roof FOR you! And presumably the rear glass, etc. Bit more open air feel...but I agree, seems rather redundant in this form factor.

Seems like manual targa vs auto targa.

I'm normally not a convertible fan, But this looks really nice. I really like how they have the buttresses, or whatever you call those behind the driver's head. The normal C8 can't drop the rear glass IIRC, and some are worried that it will create a lot of buffeting. This makes a lot more sense.
The C8.R looks a lot better than the street car too. I really can't wait to see what they do with the Z06 and ZR1. I hope they try to include some of the aero elements from the C8.R on those models. |

...and IIRC, the last model to not have a removable top was the C5 Z06 (I’m probably wrong). If it’s going to be a sports car, make it so...since they have the retractable roof as well. It’s like...”You can remove the roof yourself and stow it. Or buy the convertible model and push a button.” I had a ‘91 ZR-1, and the structural rigidity was not good with the roof off. Flex city over any minor bump or pothole. What the hell, since I’m in a grumpy mood… Most people around here in sunny Southern California that have convertibles, never have their tops down anyways. |

Mid-Engined Corvette Program Reportedly Inching Towards Public Confirmation
Once GM moved to mid engine geometry the difference in the way the convertible vs the removable top became less drastic. Compare the two versions of the C7 as an example. Notice how more “convertible” the C7 looks over the C8. Good thing for C8 convertible owners unlike C7 convertible owners is that there is now no loss of cargo space should you opt for a convertible
I love my removable top and had no desire for a proper convertible. I like the look of the removable over the convertible when both are deployed. |

It’s no where near the sound level you’re probably thinking, it’s pretty faint but still, it’s dumb and just adds noise to the cabin. |

The japanese cars of the 90s before they priced themselves out of the market due to exchange rates were more reliable, far better quality, far more performant, and far better at accepting mods reliably than any other sports car. The americans were laughable. The germans were expensive and issue prone. America took japan's spot and japan stopped making real sports cars, favoring strictly appliances. I just don't like america's "bigger is better!" mantra. Bigger brakes, bigger wheels, bigger tires are all well and good for numbers and can compensate for weight, but the feel just isn't the same, and the maintenance is way more expensive. All I can say is that when I switch the NPP exhaust into Track mode and all the pipes open up, it’s heaven. I don’t believe there’s anything piped into the cockpit of the Z06. Maybe I’m wrong. But all I hear is huge, delicious gobs of cammed out, pissed off at the world, see you bitches in 1320 growl! ***129322;***129321;
