Why so much for RE92's
Searching for tires I'm finding that Potenza RE92's are pretty damn expensive tires @ $199-219.99 each I've found them for. Thats alot more than tires that people have recommended on this forum. So why do they suck so much?

I think if you do a search you should come up with something. I remember see this question before. Frm what I remember from the thread it was concluded that OEM stuff is usually more money because some people will ONLY put OEM stuff on their cars so it's easy to jack up the price and make the customer pay more since some are willing to pay extra for OEM.
Plus they are considered a performance tire. Steve Last edited by jetfan2207; 11-13-2008 at 05:56 PM. |

They don't actully suck that bad, they are just a very mediocre all-season with a high price tag. I didn't know they were still available. Not many people actually do homework in selecting tires so they unwittingly stick with OEM tires and spend the bucks rather than bother shop around.

I work for a Bridgestone/ Firestone affiliate dealer.. and will tell you first hand..you pay through the nose for the name.. There are plenty better tires out there for much less money ( obvious much?)..Just like Goodyear, BF Goodrich, and especially Michelin, others they feel that because of their long history, their tires garner a higher price tag because of the history of the company that produces them..I run Dunlops as my summers, and Coopers as winters.. because they were reasonably priced, and have good reviews..
I was Jonesing for the RE-01R's, but budget constraints put the keibash on them, maybe next time..My DZ101's have been phenomenal.. stick like glue.. only half worn at 20K.. and only verbal at the limit...But I am looking to try something more racy/sticky when these are done; Eagle F1 GSD3; Yokohama AVS, or Dunlop Z1 Star Specs could be tapped for summer duty..the jury is still out.. |

They're expensive because they're OEM tires. People who don't know jack about tires go in and say, just put whatever was on there before, thus paying ridiculous prices for sub par tires.

I dumped the RE92As after 1k. They suck bad at $70/ea, and bring the term "suck" to a whole new level at $200+/ea.
