I completely agree, it's just sad that their are organizations out there like this. I hope the end consumer see through their BS and decided to take their business elsewhere. It's one thing if we were talking about an elite, rare supercar. We're not. It's a very well built, very cool sports car prices in the mid $20K, and dealers see an opportunity to increase the price by as much as 20% in some things I've read. That's just ridiculous. For that amount you could buy the Scion, which for all purposes is the exact car for less and do all the things you could want and then some.

Whats funny is they can sell the car for invoice, and the dealership still gets paid by Subaru for the sell, and the salesman gets a cut directly from Subaru for the sale + a bonus depending on how well he gets rated in the Subaru Peak program.

Most of the time invoice sales don't make money for the salesmen. At my dealership an invoice deal will get you $100.

They don't make much. but its more then 100 bucks.

This is a limited release folks. You will pay the premium for it. Anyone remember the prices of the WRX when it came out may(I think) of 01?

I don't know, $100 is all I get when I sell a car at invoice. Either way, I can see charging a premium if all the dealerships were doing the same, but when some are just doing MSRP and others want 10% more that seems like it borders on an unethical decision. I guess we'll see. I'm going to just buy a Scion FR-S. They're the same car, I can get a discount for being an employee and being in the military.

I put down a preorder today. I didn't get a guarantee on the price, but they said $600 below MSRP. It's a refundable desposit so if they won't agree with me on a price, or if it is too expensive to begin with, I can just walk away. The deposit is just to hold my place in line.

This seems more than reasonable to me. I expected most dealerships to sell them between MSRP or $1000 over. When I started hearing $2000+ I just couldn't believe my ears.

I don't know, I even see this pre-order list as part of the ploy. So you show up when the car is there, and there is someone off the street willing to pay MSRP just waiting for you to back out. To me it is the same process as listing a house on the market low, but waiting for multiple offers (bidding war).

I went to check out a veloster back in Nov/Dev. They had 0 new, and one used with like a months worth of miles. Said a buyer tried the 5-speed but decided they wanted a auto. They were asking more for the used one than new MSRP. Now, they have 20 on the lots...

I think I'll sit it out for a few weeks/months or like others have said just work with Toyota. I don't get all the fuss about getting the first one or being on some list.

I think in Texas it is illegal to put a premium on a new car that has not been titled yet. I do see them putting on a "protection package" and some other outrageous priced dealer add ons to get some more money out of people.

Hehe :-). I've got one of those 2010 Special Edition STi's and here I am trading it in for a BRZ-ltd. I want my remote start, my heated seats and mirrors, my HIDs, my nav...

Some say I'm crazy, but power ain't everything. I want a car I can whip around the autocross course WITH all the luxury features that a modern car should have standard.

yes i do. and a year later I bought one for around invoice. I hope the brz has strong sales and they increase inventory next year. I'm having a hard time getting a dealer to let me sit in one, never mind drive one. I won't be buying anything until they announce the new wrx which will hopefully be a year from now...

But.. the remote start, heated seats & mirrors, HIDs and NAV all add weight. We're talking something like 5 lbs! You'll never be competitive in autocross with all of that stuff bogging the car down!!

/sarcasm

You aren't crazy. The Limited BRZ is the only version of this car I'd spend money on.
