2010 WRX VF52 331/374 on 93+ 317/351 on 91
Really happy with the numbers. Made more than I expected. Living in San Diego we have 91 which sux after living back east with 93/94 and even 95 at the pump in South Carolina for just 20 cents or so over 93 per gallon. A local station sells the VP Streetblaze 100 octane a few miles from my house. So, I can "Splash and Flash" whenver I feel like having the extra 14hp/23tq. But not just that, it's the area under the curve too as they always say. Anyway, here's what I had this going in:
BEFORE: 293/322 on 91 Had: Cobb Catted DP, Magnaflow CBE, Cobb AP, GS EBCS, AEM CAI AFTER: 331/374 on 93.25 octane, 317/351 on 91 ADDED: Added: Invidia divorced DP, Q300 CBE, Perrin Pulley, and FMS TMIC It was interesting because I asked them at the shop, "Does anyone else do this? You know, bring some higher octane gas to make a higher octane mix?" They're like, "No." The gains from 93+ octane over 91 are nearly as significant as the gains from the prior 91 tune and the new 91 tune. I wish I could overlay them but the chart wasn't in their CPU anymore. I plotted it out myself on my CPU screen with a dry erase marker to check for myself. Also interesting was the fact that the tuner said that my car makes about the same power on 93 as his own previous car with a 20G on 91...and I get all the benefit of the faster boost response with the VF52.

Friend of mine made similar numbers on Paul's dyno. How exactly is this stage 3 though? |

My thought was to be able to affordably run 93-94 ocatne. At $9 a gallon, running straight 100 is too pricey given that my wife commutes in the car daily. I can afford to run 93+ on a daily basis if I wanted (and I think the gains over 91 are significant), but not 98 or 100. Although since my tuner only charges $100 for each additional map, I suppose I could've gotten one and been up to 345/400+ for those trips to the dragstrip or auto-x in the future. Guess I have to draw the line somewhere =)

The double catted Perrin DP is holding you back. My tuner tried to talk a guy out of running a Perrin Catted DP last year when I was there saying they were highly restrictive and barely better than stock. Go catless and see what happens!

its the perrin single cat downpipe.if you saw the inside of this thing, there is no restriction! its straight through. its nothing like an oem cat convertor.i need catted for annual inspection where i live. im running a 2011 sti fuel pump assy too. didnt want the hassle of walbro fitment issues.

In Ca, cars aren't inspected at all, just smog check every two years. New cars are exempt from smog check for 6 years! So, I still got 4 1/2 years =) |

wow man cool i have pretty much the same mods, i made 339/362 on a jet, just got plugs and fuel pump made the same power on 3psi less but good numbers many people say its impossible to do this but once again with a good tune its pretty possible on a vf52

Dang that's some good numbers.. Has tuning changed a bit where tuners are able to get more power. I have nearly the same mods with a vf 39 and am only making 295 hp 325 tq. It seems that lately that car with this same set up were making power similar to me and within the last year cars with the same mods are making like 30 more hp and tq. Us this just the glory of the 52. From my understanding the 52 should make close to the same power as a 39. Curious of a 52 would be a upgrade over my 39?

Its most likely just a variance between differents dynos and different elevations and differnts ambient temps
